Exercise 1: Complete the conversation using might, must or can’t!


A reporter is interviewing Mrs. John for a TV news program.
Mrs. John : My name’s Laura John, and I’m going to do a parachute jump.
Reporter : Mrs. John, you’re sixty-five, and you’re going to jump out of an aero plane. You
must be mad. You (1) can’t be serious.
Mrs. John : It really (2) must be wonderful to look down from; the sky. I’ve always
wanted to try it.

NEW YEAR’S EVE
On New Year’s Eve 2015. I celebrated it with my parents and my friends in my house. We
prepared everything and bought some chickens, corns, and sausages. We also bought some
fireworks, firecrackers, and trumpets. It was very fun. At night, around 9 o’clock, we started
to grill the chickens, corns, and sausage. My parents helped us to grill it. It was already 11
o’clock. The atmosphere was already crowded with firecrackers.
Finally, New Year 2015!!! We blew the trumpets out and set on the firecrackers. Then various
kind of fireworks exploded in the air beautifully. At last, we went to sleep at 2 am. That was
a special and fabulous day for me.
