METALS
Any of a class of elementary substance (gold, silver, copper, etc.), all of
crystalline when solid and many of which are characterized by opacity,
ductility, conductivity and a unique luster when freshly manufactured

1. IRON
a malleable, ductile, magnetic,
silver white metallic element

• PIG IRON
crude iron that is drawn from
blast furnace and cast into pigs in
preparation for conversion into cast
iron, wrought iron or steel

• CAST IRON
a hard, brittle, non-malleable
iron-based alloy containing 2.0%-

GALVANIZATION - Galvanization or
galvanizing is the process of applying
a protective zinc coating to steel or
iron, to prevent rusting. The most
common method is hot-dip
galvanizing, in which the parts are
submerged in a bath of molten hot
zinc

a W shape, designated by the

descriptive of a metal that

still hot; results in dark, oxidized,

1. CHANNEL (C)
a hot rolled structural steel
section having a rectangular C
shape with sloped inner flange
surfaces, designated by the prefix
“C” followed by the size and
weight of the member. Also called
C-Channel

a hot rolled structural steel
section having an L shape,

from a W, S or M shape and having
