MY OWN PERCEPTIONS
REGARDING NEET-PG
DISCLAIMER

• I will be completely honest with you during this. So, Judge me all you want.

• I am going to talk about things most experiences don’t cover. If you are just here to see my scores and compare with
yours, don’t bother reading this long one.

• By writing this experience, I am NOT targeting students who are in top 10% of their class. I am writing this for people
like me, who were at my stage (knowledge level), i.e. performing in bottom 50% of class during their Undergraduate
(UG).

• If you wanted me to give you a magic pill, let me be clear, very clear man. There is no elevator to success here, you
have to take the stairs. All I can do is I can guide you which stair goes to the top & which ends abruptly in the middle!

• Everybody uses the same MARROW / PREP-LADDER, but not everyone scores nearby. Scores depend on how you
use that same resource.)

• This should be your AIM if you are going to read it all. “How to approach any subject/system in a proper way that
would save your time and make you more e cient”.
• If you will read this till the end, I am sure your perspective for NEETPG preparation will be changed! You would not
feel this experience a waste of time at all.

BACKGROUND
I was a bottom 50% of my class during my UG. I am not bragging about myself here. I am writing this
because I know not everyone preparing for NEET-PG is from the top 10% of the class. I am writing
this so that you guys can relate to it and can get an insight that everything is possible with the right
guidance and dedication.

I did climb the steepest mountain to become successful in life. (This change from spending 12 hours a
day chilling & relaxing to 12 hours a day in library chair wasn’t the easy one. You too might have
experienced this.)

Who am I today is just because I have overcame plenty of hurdles to make a major change. Just
correlate this with you, you might have been in the same position struggling/ nding a chance that
will change your life. It’s not too late to get a fresh start and start doing all you want in life. You will
get rough time during this journey, you will have to face unforeseen hardship & emotional pain. But
once you will get through this, your life will be di erent. You will learn many things during this journey!

JOURNEY OF NEET-PG
It begins with joining DAMS during my 3rd 1st prof due to peer pressure, Neither I was able to utilise those
classes nor I had any motivation, at the end of 3rd 1st, I realised that I need to gain knowledge and be
educated as well as experienced for my dream to become reality, my journey to NEET-PG started as I
entered into nal prof, I tried to cover up the nal prof subjects along with preclinical subjects to learn the
concepts, I feel that passion for medicine rising inside me which is lost during my last 3 years, now I was
not only reading to clear o exams but I genuinely enjoying the thrill of medicine.

During my internship year, I joined DAMS TnD course to gain momentum along with MARROW
Qbank to ll up the void created due to my weak basics. Due to hectic internship, I was not able
to give my best, and I got 14.3k rank in NEETPG-2020, it was not my best attempt, so I chose to
reappear.

If you're thinking to reappear for NEET-PG, think before like thousand time, but once you decide,
don't ever look back. Give your 100%. Put your ❤ into it.

STRATEGY
There are so many resources for NEETPG available for us. You just can’t nish them all. There
might be many topper who tells you what TO DO, but if you know what NOT TO DO, might save
your precious time.

If I would knew the details I am going to share with you now, I would have nished this journey
earlier with more marks in my bucket.

Let’s get into it...

NOT TO DO
• Class-notes from multiple sources

• Too much time spending to solve MCQ ( e.g. Uworld )

• Obsession with favourite subjects, reading that subjects frequently as compare to others.

• Doing only rapid revision as shortcut for some subjects.

• Avoid giving GT/SWT as fear of getting less marks/rank.

• Watching too much videos as part of preparation/ revision.

• FOMO for mot using multiple sources.

• Not having weekly break from study.

• Not consider your mental/physical health, food-choices as a part of preparation strategy.(I

would recommend minimum 30 minutes for your health even during last 3 months)

• Too much ca eine, heavy meal.

• Comparing your score from your friends/ being type A

REVISION STRATEGY

Use the principle of 'TRIAGE' for revision,

BOOKMARK, ONCE DURING 2/3
MONTH BEFORE EXAM, DONT
WASTE TIME FOR IT

Categorisation is purely subjective, some topics are di cult for someone, but it may easy for
another, some are in red list and as further revision progress, it may gradually step down to yellow
or green. The goal of revision is to step down the category with each revision and utilise the last
revision time for MOST MOST VOLATILE topics.

APPROACH TO GT/CBT

Don't judge yourself by ranks or marks, it doesn't re ect your preparation truly. P.S. I had never
get double digit rank in any mock till my NEET, the purpose of GT are

• To expose your weak topics and plan for revision

• To gain momentum every 7 days* (last 3 months) or 15 days (from beginning of preparation)

• Time management

• To learn why and when do you silly mistake

• To reduce exam anxiety

THE DAY BEFORE EXAM..
Give yourself credit to survive till the last phase of preparation, accept the fact that no one has
perfect preparation, no one is robot. Everyone has ups and downs during preparation. No matter
how things may unfold, these preparatory phase will bring best out of you.

Tips:
• Use common sense
• Last line of question -> Options-> Question & Rule out option while reading question
• Calm yourself as much as possible, chaos inside you block out your thinking process and make
you confuse.
• Attempt as much as possible. (Min 95% of question should be attempted to crack any exam)

This PDF is the result of my e orts at helping fellow students. If you have found this experience
helpful in any sense, kindly share it with your near & dear ones.

Thank you for your precious time for reading this long one!
