This week in the library.

Students participated in
a read-aloud of the
youngest poet in history
for a U.S. inauguration.

Amanda Gorman read

Librarian created a preso

We immersed ourselves in
Informational Text found
in NonFiction books.

Supports the TEKs 5.9D, 4.9D,

3.9D, 2.9D, 1.9D and K.9B

We concluded by creating
an Informational Text of
our own, a chart/graphic.
Each library lesson…

gives us two-fold value.

touches our heart with a great

story.

adds to our digital toolbox.

We adapt to the times and
promote physical and ebooks.
We’re learning to get
comfortable with all
formats of books.

We make good use of

the TexQuest digital
library that the State
of Texas provides for
each of its students.

Every library book should earn its keep.
We are deliberate
in our attempt to
acquire, manage
and promote books
that not only
satisfy leisure
reading, but also
provide support for
classroom learning.

I created the Book

character to help
promote this
endeavor.
It’s labor-intensive, but it’s important to provide classroom
support with rich, interactive and vetted resources to strengthen
a learning community.

Using the exact TEKS verification documents in the TEKSResource

System, I insert an overlay of resources that busy teachers can
consult, but students are the end-users.

I share what I’ve learned with library
colleagues

My driving principle.

Students learn by doing.

We’ll start with a book, but
we’ll, almost always, end
with a new skill.
I make libraries a very
cerebral and a tactile
environment.
A core belief

Students should
uniquely benefit
from weekly visits
to the library.
