For this assignment, my group and I worked together to solve a
few problems using linear programming. We used an online application (Desmos) as well as a paper worksheet to graph the equations. Then we calculated the profit/loss and chose the best solution. My group and I used multiple 21st Century Skills. We used our thinking and problem solving skills to solve the equations and to troubleshoot the online application. We also used our communication and interpersonal skills to work together as a group to solve the problems. Our group didn’t have a leader; we all collaborated together. Kutwie, Toob, and I all wrote and compared equations before using Toob’s colored pencils to graph it on paper, and check our work with Desmos. This project also allowed us to sculpt our financial literacy skills through profit optimization and minimal loss. Notes on linear programming Choice #1 We Need Seats The company should sell 20,000 reserved tickets and 0 lawn tickets to maximize profit. Choice #2 Beaches and Brochures The company should make 80 brochures and 100 flyers to minimize loss.
