External Touch Panel(called "ETP" below) of SNP-X protocol can be connected with FANUC
Series 16/18-model C or 16i/18i/21i(called "FS16" below).
ETP has functions that can read out/ write in from/to PMC such control signals as input
signal(X),output,signal(Y),internalrelay(R),keep relay(K),data table(D),timer(T),counter(C),
and the function is almost the same as operating panel of machine.

The remarkable function of ETP is drawing function.

Assignment between drawing and address(signal) can be specified freely.
For example, the data in data table can be set with the switch on the screen which is
designed to assign the setting of data table.

2. Details

2.1 Connection
RS-232C serial port on main CPU board is used in FS16.
Cable-A must be based on RS-232C standard, and are prepared by customer.

 2.2 Power On sequence

Power ON of FS16

Power ON of ETP

t : Less than 254sec

Set "t+1(sec)" as the "Start Time" of ETP System Setting.

It is no problem when Power ON interval of FS16 is earlier than that of ETP.

Power ON interval of FS16 means the period till the reset state is terminated.

2.3 Data of FS16, read / write from ETP

Following data can be read out/write into ETP.
The range of address is different according to the kind of PMC.
* Input Address X0000 -- X0127 (readout only)
X1000 -- X1063 (readout only)
* Output Address Y0000 -- Y0127
Y1000 -- Y1063

Following data can be read out/write with ETP. in FS21i at PMC-SA1.
The range of address is different according to the kind of PMC.

Only direct command on SNP-X protocol is available in FS16.
ETP also must use the same protocol and the same command only.
The process required for writing data more than 3 bytes is the same as
that lass than 2bytes.
Please refer the documents of SNP-X protocol for the detail of SNP-X protocol.

2.5 Caution
1) This function can not be used with the function that uses DMA for data
sending of RS-232C used in C language executor function, which is activated
by setting bit 3 of parameter No.8659.

2) In i series it is possible to use from the following hardware and software.

As described above, item 2.2 Connection,RS-232C serial port 2(JD5B on FS16C or JD36B
on FS16i) on the main CPU board of FS16 is used for connection with ETP.
Set "TPLDS" to 0 when ETP is available. Then "JD5B on FS16C or JD36B on FS16i " is
used as the connector for ETP regardless with the setting of I/O channel(selection of input
device), specified by parameter 20-23.
Use "JD5A on FS16C or JD36A on FS16i ", for other devices I/O.
In this case, the setting of parameter No.100 and 121-123 become not effective,
and used following fix value as the setting data for "JD5B on FS16C or JD36B on FS16i".
Baud rate : 19200bps
Stop bit : 1 bit
Parity check : even parity

(note.) This parameter number is provided for FS16-MC(B0B1-11),FS16-TC(B1B1-12),

FS18-MC(BDB1-09),and FS18-TC(BEB1-12).
The parameter number for older edition or older series is bit 0(TPLDS)
of No.3117
