20.5.14 GGBS

GGBS shall comply with BS EN 15167-1 except that the scheme for the evaluation
of conformity of GGBS specified in BS EN 15167-2 is not required. The glass
content as determined by X-ray diffraction or optical-microscopy method shall be
not less than 67%. The X-ray diffraction method detailed in Appendix D of BS 6699
is acceptable.

20.6 SUBMISSIONS

20.6.1 Particulars of Materials for Concrete

(a) The following particulars of the proposed cement, PFA, GGBS and
aggregates shall be submitted to the Project Manager for review without
objection:

(i) A certificate applicable to the material to be supplied and not older than 6

and place of manufacture and showing that the cement complies with the
requirements stated in the Contract and including results of tests for:
composition;
chemical requirement;
compressive strength at 2, 7 and 28 days;
initial setting time; and
soundness.

(ii) A certificate applicable to the material to be supplied and not older than 6
months for PFA showing the source of the PFA and showing that the PFA
complies with the requirements stated in the Contract and including results of
tests required in either Clause 14.1 of BS 3892: Part 1 or Clause 5.2 and 5.3
of BS EN 450-1.
