Executive Summary
The internship program is a prerequisite for the BBA. Classroom discussions alone do not
allow the student to excel in managing real business issues; therefore, it is a good opportunity
for students to gather information about the successful activities of this project. You will need
to create a map of the college and organization you need. The theme of the statement was
“Market share in the Fashion Forum Ltd. Concerns Factor Fashion Forum Limited”. The
main purpose of the report is very clear from the content of the reports. Fashion Conference
is one of the leaders in Fashion Forum Ltd. It was a great opportunity for me to do my
internship and permanent job at this organization. This is a big factory with all kinds of
services. Here the process goes from creating different models of garments to finished
garments for export. Meanwhile, Bangladesh has prospered with the RMG sector, with this
division having its main contributors. The annual income of the garment industry is
determined by two sources, one is the clothing fabric and the other is the textile fabric. The
readymade embroidery is 100% export direction. RMG exports a wide range of clothing
products to foreign countries. The company produces men's shirts, shorts, shorts, long pants
and more for the USA, Great Britain and European countries. The use of technology to make
clothing makes an excellent product.

It is also adding new technology to add to its production line. They have a goal and a vision
to be effective. The clothing industry has a relationship with the buyer. The workforce and
stress management are their core strategies. The team has become adequate and successful in
their services. Reports have been prepared on “Corporate operations in RMG BD Marketing

Introduction

©Daffodil International University 1

1.1Introduction
RMG (ready-made garment) is very important and applicable in Bangladesh. Bangladesh
has become a major player in the textile and garment industry since 1978. The clothing
and apparel industry accounts for about 85% of Bangladesh's revenue, of which 75%
comes from clothing which includes major knitwear and knitwear, blouses, trousers,
skirts, trousers shorts, shirts, sports coats and many other items such as clothing and
fashion accessories. These jobs are now private over 1.5 million are mostly women
working through specialized courses.

1.2Background of the Study

I am a junior trader in Fashion Forum Ltd. which is the 100% export oriented composite
fabrics industry and I have prepared my internship report on Fashion Forum Ltd. to
continue my internship study in Fashion Forum Ltd. I went through almost the entire
section to understand the whole work process and try to find out about activities, planning
and so much more.

1.3Significance of the Study

We have completed this report from all RMG industry companies such as Sales Office,
Sales Office, Manufacturing Company, Service Company, Group Company, The
Department of Labour and other agencies such as BGMEA, BKMEA and export support
agencies, suppliers of yarn, cloth. Exporters, Chittagong Port, insurance company, export
company. So, by completing this guide, I had an idea about the general business of RMG,
which increased my knowledge of this book. In this context, we have deliberately
discussed these things to inform you.

1.4Objective of the Study

Broad Objective
The broad objective of this study is to analyses the merchandising activity of garment
sector in Bangladesh, how the merchandisers do the merchandising process.
Specific Objectives
 To know about the technical process and management process in apparel industry.
 To do merchandising practice
 To analyze the reason behind recent labour unrest in BD

©Daffodil International University 2

 To knowledge gather about other RMG relevant other organization
 To find out the way to improve the loop hole for doing better performance of
Fashion Forum Ltd.

1.5Methodology of the Study

The report is based on both primary and secondary data. But maximum data used in this
report are collected from secondary sources. Exact sources of the secondary sources will
be mentioned. Thus the report is basically qualitative in nature. However, primary data is
also used depending on the requirement.

Primary Data
 Interview with merchandisers
 Group discussion with the company personnel and the clients
 Observation method was followed, as I have to study the entire merchandising
process in depth

Secondary Data

 Merchandising related books

 Newspaper
 Internet
 Others online report
 Organizational websites

1.6Scope of the Study

This report outlines all aspects of the organization, management and organization of
operations and areas of effective, service delivery. It also deals with the current state of
affairs, operations, competition for Fashion Forum ltd, differences between different
products and boards.

1.7Limitation of the Study

 Some data and information are kept confidential for each company. For this
reason, it is not possible to report for obvious reasons, which will help you in
many ways.

©Daffodil International University 3

 Timing is one of the ways to complete a project in less time.
 I didn't mention the title date.
 There are many code names in garments industry that is very important for
production process, and I have memorized those codes.
 In garments factory most of the employee doesn’t have any educational
background they do their job only with experiences.
 Foreign buyers English are not that much clear
 Political unrest of our country such as strike or herbal was major problem in this
regard as it is difficult to go out and work during that time and to maintain the
work schedule.

©Daffodil International University 5

In the export market, the supply of quality products is considered the most important

committed to quality, design and more of cloth. To produce high quality fabrics, they
must use the appropriate local and foreign materials, the latest brand technology, and hire

experienced and qualified staff. Project quality management requires the tools and
equipment necessary for quality control, in order to obtain high quality products that can
be achieved at all stages of production; otherwise, it will be difficult for the project to
carry out its product on an international scale, unless you have good manners.

2.7 SWOT Analysis

Strengths

Proper Management: An Exclude meeting Employee restricts all workworks
very well; Oversee production from start to finish and assist in delivery as per
customer requirements.
Innovative product line: The line is made to be unique and to use new items of
clothing which is a great symbol for the industry.
Production of Fabrics: Most workers design fabrics according to the customer.

O
W
 Effective Manpower: The facilities are well established with professional,
technical and marketing staff. They try their best to deliver on time and provide
100% quality clothing.
 Own land: The factories of FFL Garments Limited are established in their
country.

Weaknesses
 Poor salary structure: Because the industry is still in a difficult position, his
salary the structure is not very good compared to other industries.
 Subordinates absence in policy making: The subordinates do not make any
decisions or participate in the decision-making process during the meeting. The
decision always comes from top management which is motivating.
 Shortage of workers: Because the industry is not so big and the number of
employees is limited, sometimes it becomes really difficult to produce all the
goods in a timely manner and the workload of the workers increases greatly if
there is a large transport.
 Post purchase behaviour: After delivery of the products, employees do not
collect the actual behaviour of the buyers after the purchase, which is really a
negative sign for the sector.

Opportunities

 Attending Trade Fairs: FFL can attend various trade fairs and textiles to gain an
audience attention and can get new ideas related to today's business.
 Hiring dynamic & fresh Graduates: can hire dynamic, young and fresh
graduates who can generate innovative ideas and lead to higher profits.
 Diversification: FFL Garments can expand their business by establishing
factories of yarns, fabrics and sweaters. It will help them minimize the risk.
 Covering UK & USA market: Recently, some foreign countries are very
interested in concluding contracts with FFL, which is very good news. Covering
several market areas in the EU and the US will help the sector to establish itself
quickly.

©Daffodil International University 10

Threats

 Political imbalance: One of the biggest threats to the FFL is the current political
instability. Strike, postponement, etc. severely impedes the production process.
 Trade barriers: Rising trade barriers and withdrawing the quota system are
major threats to developing industries like FFL.
 Competitor’s smart move: Competing industries are constantly offering
innovative products and replace a product that poses a major threat to this
industry.
 Absence of Spinning Plant: Most of the large garment industries which are well
established have their own spinning plant. As a result, they can sell their product
more cheaply, but FFL has no spinning plants. For this reason their production
cost is high.

Chapter- Three

Merchandising Activities of Garment

Industry in BD

©Daffodil International University 12

3.1 Garments Merchandising

FF Garments Ltd:

Over time the products have been well known to those specialized in the clothing
industry. Marketing comes from "goods", which means you buy and sell. The dealer is
the seller. The sale of garments means the purchase of raw materials and accessories to
produce garments that are reasonably priced and maintain a reasonable level and samples
for delivery of clothes ordered on time

So the trader needs more knowledge and skills to become a global marketer to explore
trustworthy buyers of the product, he should make the decision on the currency price.
Catering, performance and time management all the information you need at home to be
punctual suppliers an entrepreneur should have the knowledge and skills-

 Good knowledge of raw materials and inspection of garment machines.

 A clear idea of the quality of the measurement in the clothing cutproduction.
 Good knowledge of yarns, weaving, dyeing, printing, finishing, dyeing, testing
and design products, etc.
 He is fluent in English and is proficient in technical termsit is also a good
communication.

Once the trader receives the shipment order, he or she must schedule the next assignment
to complete the shipment order on time.

 Proper action plan required through making T & A

 Shipment documents
 Pre-shipment inspection schedule
 Garments production planning
 Costing
 Get time and labour (T&A) information to store documents and shipments on
time.
 Source of trims
 Source of trims

©Daffodil International University 13

 Counting of additional materials (thread, buttons, line differences, labels, labels,
front labels, poly bags, if the finished product will be packed in a hanger, then the
bracelet, plastic button, box etc. are optional)
 The fabric needs a cutting command so that the garment has a certain percentage
of waste at the time of cutting.

3.2 Garments trims/ accessories

By clothing we mean the material used to make the garment, only the base material.
There are many materials used as ornaments for making clothes. A list of few important
trims are given below-

 Back board
 Neck board
 Tag pin
 Collar bone
 Collar insert
 Plastic pin
 Tissue paper
 Scotch paper
 Guru tape
 Hanger
 Polybag
 Elastic
 Lining shoulder fad
 Zipper
 Label
 Button
 Interlining
 Sewing thread

The quality of the finished product is very important, sometimes the buyer has to choose
the finished supplier who can order for the special order, and the seller will have to get
the approval for some finished first confirms to be used in the final garment. Otherwise,

©Daffodil International University 14

the product will be rejected by the consumer. So most of the key products for the buyer
are-

 Production Follow Up
 Planning
 Communication

The role of the Good Dealer is to manage the decision on four levels.

 Running Order
 New Order
 Confirmed Order

The garment industry must be developed taking into account industry standards, it will

you need to follow the business development process. Customers can choose between
two options. First, the buyer selects the shipment, and second, sometimes the FFL has to

development, it is presented below-

3.7 Activities and responsibilities of merchandising team to maintain
quality

Process of order execution in FFL Merchandising Team

 Communication with buyer

 Procure order & order confirmation
 Consumption: It is a very important task for the merchandiser to do this before
setting the costs. Consumption refers to the amount of fabric or lining (if needed)
to be done on clothing. After obtaining consumption in the yard (unit) we can
calculate what amount of total land needed to make the special bulk production.
 Sample control and taking approval from buyer: The model is designed when
a specific price and order is placed, usually it size M for each colour combination
of the desired order. The buyer meets with his customer and writes down his
order quantity by colour, size, etc. and finally places the order with your supplier.
The sales model is practiced by the buyer of the book.
 Lab dipping and other approval: Here are some examples of products you need
see for testing.

etc.

Past Work Experience / My past work experience at FFL is a total experience. While
working as a lone guardian in the FFL, I had the opportunity to learn many things.
During that time I have done a lot of work related to the business activity, which is as
follows-

Daily activities

 Reporting to concern supervisor

 Mail communication

 Taking the photos of samples
 Proper filling the documents
 Scanning documents

Weekly activities
 Meeting with the buyer

 In addition to overseeing the entire business process, I have learned many things
and worked in the Office of Finance & Accounts.
 Below is my additional special education in FFL due to my work at BBA.
 Meeting with the production people

Preparation of bank payment voucher

Ever since I met the financial services department that I spent in the financial institution,
I have been looking at preparing bank payment receipts. Bank overdrafts are used when
making payments for different types of expenses and withdrawals from corporate bank
accounts. Photo copy of the drawing of the check together with the receipt for payment
by check.

The receipt will be used when the payment is received and deposited on the bank account
number. The receipt is attached to the bank statement which is the key document FFL
Assessment Industry Review.

Preparation of journal voucher

Emergency newsletters are used when there are no funds or banks involved instead.
Many options for newsletter tickets have been planned. For example, when a product is
sold to an account customer, a social message will be promoted. Cash receipts and
payment vouchers can also be used to receive and pay.

Maintaining admin expenses

I watch them to keep track of various office expenses and daily expense records.

Maintenance of different files

My job is to carefully manage files that contain a lot of important information. In

conclusion, I can say that FFL helps me a lot to know Businesses with adequate
information in a convenient way. Through this article of clothing, we have seen the

 The supplier discipline or procurement department is not very strong in this
organization, which makes the merchandisers collect all the raw materials of the
garments which makes them feel more pressure to finish the shipment work and
sometime after the shipment date the company has to pay extra for air ship work.
Sowhen the supply chain department collects all the raw materials, the merchandiser
can easily ship the product within the lead time.
 The management planning department should be strong and time management should
be followed. Here, productivity is low due to less authority of the authorities towards
production. It needs to be increased for higher productivity.
 The quality assurance system should be modernized as quality is the highest priority
of all international buyers.
 Working environment should be increased
 The pay scale is very weak which needs to be increased as the company will lose
potential employees due to their policies.
 The distribution of power should be conducted smoothly and transparency and
management among the workers should be followed.
