Question 1

(a) Develop a Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) which identifies the major processes and
deliverables for a Library Management System (LMS) project for Lifelong Higher
Academic Institution. The Integrated LMS consists of the following functions:

 Admin has the authority to add, delete or modify the details of the books available
to/from the system.
 The receptionist has the authority to enter the name, address and contact number of the
people who visit the library along with the name of the book they want to read.
 Admin can also add the details of the books purchased from shops along with the shop
name. They also have the authority to delete from or modify it to the database.
 A library member can also borrow books for particular days. All the information will be
entered into the system. If the person doesn’t return the book before the due date, a fine
will be added and the information about the fine will be sent to that particular person.
 Allow users to search and display results via Online Public Access Catalog (OPAC).
 Users can also find out the status of an item (whether it is on loan, on-shelf, etc) and loan
information from OPAC record.
 The item’s status information enables users to make a self-reservation.
 Able to generate reports at any point of time.
