1. The daily high temperatures (in degree Celcius) in April for 10 selected cities in the
Philippines are as follows:

38, 36, 35, 40, 33, 30, 37, 38, 34, 36

The corresponding amount of normal monthly precipitation (in inches) for the same
respective cities is listed below:
4.8, 2.6, 1.5, 1.8, 1.8, 3.3, 5.1, 1.1, 1.8, 2.5

a.) Calculate the range, standard deviation and the variance


b.) Which between daily high temperatures and normal monthly precipitation is more
consistent based on the observed set of data? Why?

2. The data below shows the amount of money students spend at Jollibee on Saturdays and
Sundays.

Saturday: 200 350 250 320 150 180 240 430 310 220 280
Sunday: 140 220 180 330 330 380 250 410 300 160 230

a.) Calculate the range, standard deviation and the variance.


b.) On which day is the amount of money spent more variable? Why?
