Position: SQL Developer/Report Writer

Salary Range: $41,026 -$70,631

Position Description:
Designs, develops and deploys reports for the organization. Assist Alpha vendor in writing specifications for
new development within the Alpha system and tracks process and deployment.

Responsibilities and Duties:

• Reporting
o Will create and maintain reports using Crystal, Microsoft Reporting Services and SQL
Reporting. Will work with the developers and/or end users to create requirements and
specifications. Upon development, will submit sample reports to business owners for approval
and acceptance of the final product.
o Responsible for maintaining strict testing requirements and procedure.
o Will be asked to optimize reports for performance and re-usability.
o Required documenting all aspects of the report development process. Including requirements,
data and performance testing and deployment. Responsible for reviewing and implementing
report changes and updates as defined by State reporting requirements (e.g., Performance
Measures, Monthly Monitoring Reports, etc.)
o Responsible for working with business owners and internal and external groups to understand
requirements and develop solutions to complex reporting needs, as well as addressing any
reporting errors or issues after live system implementation.
o Develop SQL database and applications to interface with SQL databases. Determine the most
efficient stored procedures, views and functions for the application.

o Trouble shoot databases and applications involving data validation and testing.
o Design and code database tables and indexes
o Review query performance and optimize coding
o Optimize existing queries to increase performance.
o Work as a team member with other technical staff to ensure data integrity and industry reporting
standards.

o Manage tickets through the help desk system that are assigned to employee.

Education/Experience/Licensure:

1. Minimum Education: High School Diploma/GED and 5 or more years of progressively responsible
work experience in SQL development, preferably in a healthcare or managed care environment which
provided the opportunity to gain the knowledge and skills required to perform the duties of the position.
2. Preferred Education: Associate degree in computer science or other related information technology
discipline and 3 or more years of progressively responsible work experience in SQL development,
preferably in a healthcare or managed care environment which provided the opportunity to gain the
knowledge and skills required to perform the duties of the position.
3. Preferred Certifications: Crystal Certification, SQL Certification
