National statistics COMPETITION (NSC) 2021

ROUND 2 (the finale)

Duration: 2 hours and 30 Minutes

Rules and regulations for Round 2 (Final Round)

1. Candidate is required to fill in his/her Index Number and Identity Card Number.
2. Round 2 consists of 2 sections and each candidate is required to answer all 2 sections.
3. Section A consists of 5 true-false questions, 5 marks for each question.
4. Section B consists of 5 long questions, 15 marks for each question. Candidate must give
answer in fraction form in lowest term (example: 1/6) or in 4 significance figures
(example: 0.1667) if the answer is not an integer.
5. Candidate are required to answer those questions within 2 hours 30 minutes and an
extra 15 minutes will be given for submission.
6. All working and answers must be handwritten on paper CLEARLY or iPad/tablet.
7. Show necessary working, and justification need to be made in the form of
mathematical statement(s) or mathematical proof.
8. Candidate are not allowed to leave the camera vision for more than 3 minutes except
with appropriate reasons.
9. No mark will be deducted for wrongly answered questions.
10. Only scientific calculators are allowed. Phones, programmable calculators, and other
electronic devices are strictly prohibited.
11. Participants are not allowed to have conversation(s), discussion(s), reference
material(s) and exchange of information with any other parties during the
competition.
12. Mobile phone(s), tablet(s) and/or other electronic gadget(s) are not permitted to be
used throughout the competition unless authorised and/or instructed by the invigilator(s)
for use as a webcam and/or answering question(s); otherwise, they must be placed
on the table and visible to the invigilator(s).
13. All irrelevant program(s), software and/ or website(s) during the competition must be
closed throughout the competition.
14. Candidate who are late will not be disqualified. However, answering time will not be
extended.
15. A disqualification will be issued after THREE warnings are given on suspicious act(s)
and/ or movement(s). Also, participants will be disqualified if there are any
discrepancies, incomplete information or found to be dishonest such as access to
forbidden material(s), screenshot or download question files and plagiarism.

Integrity of the Competition:

1. The decision of judges to determine the winner of Round 2 will be final. Hence, no
appeals will be taken into consideration.
2. Winner is chosen based on scores and scores are given according to working and
solutions.
3. The Organizer of NSC 2021 reserves the right to re-examine candidates before deciding
whether to grant official status to their score.
