Assessment # 1

Direction: Write your philosophy in life. Express your ideas as completely and clearly as you
can. Think deeply and beyond superficialities and refuse to be satisfied with the first idea that
you have.

1. What do you value most in life? Why?

Our values are the things that we believe are important in the way we live. Our values tell
us if we're living our life the way we want to. The values in a person’s life make them the
person who they are. Every person has different values that compliment themselves in
making them the person they are and want to be. Some of my values are being
dependable, determined, self-responsible, loyalty and family. Everyone has multiple values
that their life runs on. My first value in life is being dependable. I have that value because
you can count on me when I say I will do something. That is a good value to have so when
people think you are going to do something you actually do it. I am also dependable when
you try to contact me because I most often reply. I most often more than not get all my
stuff in on time. Also if someone depends on you to get somewhere at a certain time you
should get to that certain spot at the time you said. You don’t want to make them wait and
make them angry by waiting there until you decide to show up. Another value that I value
the most is being determined. Everyone should be determined in some way shape or form.
Being determined means that you are trying to get to a goal that you set and are working
your way up to get to that goal. I am determined by trying to get better at work.

2. What gives meaning to your life?

I believe, a meaningful life is a life of happiness and self-accomplishment, a life that is

surrounded by loved ones and activities that are enjoyed. If a person is content with
what they are doing with their life, then to them their life is meaningful. To have a
meaningful life is to wake up every morning with a sense of appreciation for the
opportunity to live another day. Everyone is here for a reason. Finding that reason could
be difficult, but in order to find it, you have to pursue your passion. Doing everything that
it takes to accomplish something that you love makes your life worth living. Whether it
be caring for people, excelling in your job, or creating something new, your passion
creates a joy inside that compares with nothing else.

3. Share your thoughts on Gilbert Rye’s philosophical perspective.

“Self is not an entity one can locate and analyze but simply the convenient name
that people use to refer to all the behaviors that people make”

My thoughts about Gilbert Rye’s philosophical perspective is that he accepts that our
self isn’t an substance one can find and analyze but basically the helpful title that
individual utilize to refer to all the practices that individual can make.

4. St. Thomas Aquinas “ His essense to the world is what makes human person a
human person”

He stated that a human being is a human body, namely, a rational, sensitive, living body,
and that a human being consists of a soul and a body. Additionally, human nature is a
concept that denotes the fundamental dispositions and characteristics including ways of
thinking, feeling, and acting that humans are said to have naturally. The term is often
used to denote the essence of humankind, or what it 'means' to be human.
