Think about this!

1. What can you say about the picture?
- These works of art reveal the overall majesty of a landscape through stylized symbols
expressing the natural features of a country's geography and allow a modern onlooker
a view into a world before technology took away the world's secrets.
2. What does the map tell you about how the Chinese see themselves in relation to
the world
- Maps have been a way for humanity to understand, recognize and navigate the
landscape around them, turning an unintelligible three-dimensional landscape into a
readable object. The Chinese characters found in the text on the verso of the map were
the first introduction to Chinese language for many educated Europeans of the time.
With its three lushly designed cartouches and many illustrations of indigenous shelters,
modes of transportation and animals, this is one of Ortelius's richest engravings.

What’s More
Think About This!
1. What is the article about?
The article is about Court of Appeals ( CA ) that affirmed disciplinary proceeding vs
students linked toUP hazing case.
2. Can one justify that the “culture” of fraternities deserves respect? What are the
advantages and disadvantages of this claim?
There is usually a certain “culture” that is unique to fraternities, but not all cultures
deserves respect. Anyone can claim that their fraternity deserves respect but respect has to
be earned. To get respected, they should show their values and contributions, how they are
valuable and respectful to one another and what their fraternity stand for. The amount of
respect that any culture deserves is proportional to how much cultural respect life is. No
culture can be judged as evolutionary superior to another and cultural features can only be
understood in terms of their role in the complete system. cultural is the way of one
community to celebrate their traditional such as their beliefs.
Social involvement, personal and professional development, networking and academic
support are all common benefits students gain from fraternities. Fraternities aren’t for
everyone, though. The costs of membership and the requirements to pledge and stay involved
are common deterrents.
2. What are the ill effects of hazing?
For the person being hazed, some may suffer from negative consequences. These
consequences may include:
-Physical, emotional, and/or mental instability.
-Sleep deprivation.
-Loss of sense of control and empowerment.
-Decline in grades and coursework.
-Relationships with friends, significant others, and family suffer.
-Post-traumatic stress syndrome.
-Loss of respect for and interest in being part of the organization.
4. ABC Fraternity is the most prestigious fraternity in your school. Its members are high
ranking government officials and rich business owners. Your teacher recruits you on the
promise that you will be spared from hazing. Would you join the fraternity? Why or why
not?
Yes  I will join the fraternity so that I get an opportunity to pay my fees since my
parents cannot afford. Joining the fraternity will not only be helpful to me but also my
parents and siblings. However, if they fail to fulfil their I won’t join the fraternity . Also, if
they respond to me negatively I will report them and sue them for their negatively. This is
because the fraternity biggest role is to ensure unity and create new friendship and by taking
negatively to means that  they   have broken their rules. However, in this new generation as
we can see most fraternity do not follow rules anymore and mostly trouble makers  and do
not care what they talk and say. They no longer consider  creating  friendship anymore  but
instead settle for whatever they want.
