SECOND QUARTER ACTIVITIES

1. Why are pregnant mothers advised not to smoke, not to drink alcoholic beverages, not to take any
medication without doctor’s advice?

In my opinion, Why are pregnant mothers advised not to smoke because it will cause risk to our
baby because some of the cigarettes contain harmful chemical like nicotine that's why its advice not to
smoke and it can harm our baby while they are still in development stages also drinking alcohol can
cause some health and mental problems when they are born that's why some of our doctor's advice not
to drink alcohol, smoke and taking medicine without there consent because doctors are expert about it
that's why we should always follow the advice of the doctor because they know better than us that's
why we should always follow and not be ignorant because it for own sake.

2. Define the three stages of prenatal development?

In my opinion, about three stages of prenatal development it is all about the beginning and the
ending of child development. The first stage is The Germinal stage is all about 0-2 weeks fertilization of a
male and female egg to become a zygote also zygote will process the cell to become the future fetus.
The second stage is the Embryonic Stage is all about 3-8 weeks of pregnancy this stage is about embryo
development that will be characterized about different cells that provide the baby needs like placenta
provide oxygen and nutrients of the baby, etc also this stage will the doctor advised not to smoke, drink
and take medicine it will harm the baby development. The third stage is about Fetal Stage is all about 9-
38 weeks this stage is about the fetus that will start to develop until it will fully form to human baby and
the fetus will start to moves inside of the woman's womb.

3. Study a toddler from 1 year old to 2 years old. Write down his/her activities and characteristics in
terms of:

AREAS OF DEVELOPMENT ACTIVITIES/TRAITS

COGNITIVE They can recall some of the information like color,

numbers, and songs.
PHYSICAL They can walk, running, crawling, etc
SOCIAL They love to imitate someone.
LANGUAGE They can respond when you called their name,
song and they can talk some of the words like
mama, dada , etc

SOCIO-EMOTIONAL They easily cry when they are scared also cry when
their mother leaves.

4-5. Make an analysis or a reflection on this statement: “Toddlers, the messiest, most infuriating,
emotionally unstable, unreasonable, frustrating, tiring people you couldn’t imagine your life without “.

Based on my understanding about the given statement is that toddlers had a predictable
emotion and behavior that make us realize that being parents is not easy because the parent had great
responsibility that taking your child until they grow are very hard but being a parent also is not all about
responsibility but sometimes it is about love, care, and fulfillment because when you see your child get
grower we can realize that without them our life will be lonely and I know some of us didn't yet
experienced but sooner or later we will experience about toddlers behavior, emotion, etc when we
become parents.
