The following types of safety warnings are used in the present manual.
DANGER
The safety warning with the signal word “Danger” is used to indicate a hazardous situation
which, if not avoided, will result in death or serious injury.

Interval Description Refer to
Every Visit Trigger a test alarm call in order to check that the ETMA -
equipment functions correctly.
DANGER
Hazardous Voltage from the Phone Line (PSTN line)
Phone lines feature a ringing voltage of up to 150 VAC peak to peak. Contact with the live
parts of a phone circuit during ringing will result in electric shock causing serious injury or
death.
Exercise great care when working on equipment which is connected to a phone line.
Preparatory
Steps No Step
1 Put signs “Out of Service” in front of each landing door.
2 Make sure that during maintenance work the car is empty of persons and goods.
3 Switch on the hoistway lights.
4 Check for any roll back or out of level conditions.
5 Check if there are any vibrations or excessive jerk or noise during travel.
6 While riding in the car, check if any excessive noise has developed in the
machine room / hoistway head.
7 Check that all landing doors close and lock securely.
8 Record the number of trips from the trip counter in the installation record book.
9 Report any problems to the service department.
Replacement
1 Replace the ETMA device.
2 After the replacement, trigger a test alarm call in order to check that the ETMA
equipment functions correctly.
Refer to paragraph "Test Alarm Call" in chapter "Preventive Maintenance".
