4. Course Objectives: The primary objective of criminal law is to maintain law and order in the society
and to protect the life and liberty of people. It is for this reason that people place their ultimate
reliance on this branch of law for protection against all injuries that human conduct can inflict on
individuals and institutions. Due to these reasons, the penal law cannot afford to be weak,
ambiguous or ineffective nor can it be harsh and arbitrary in its nature. The application of criminal
law has to be uniform regardless of any discrimination on grounds of class, caste, religion, sex or
creed etc. of either the criminal or the victim.
5. Pedagogy: Due to Covid19 pandemic and subsequent government guidelines, teaching learning will
be conducted through synchronous and asynchronous online sessions on Blackboard. Interactive
approach during the study. (Students shall be advised in advance to prepare the topics for discussion
in the class).

Identification Criteria
Slow learners- Student who score less than 40% in the first test
Fast learners- Student who score more than 85% in the first test
Strategic Measures:
For slow learners extra classes, doubt clearing sessions will be scheduled.
Fast learners will be guided for publications, blog writings and encouraged to participate in
various symposiums like quiz, poster presentation, conferences, inter institution competition
etc.

The objectives of engaging and engrossing the students in workshop is to enable them to
1. Demonstrate accurate knowledge and understanding of the relevant legal principles in Criminal
Law.

3. Identify and explaining how the law applies to a defendant charged with one or more of a range
of criminal offences, distinguishing between those offences and applying the law to the facts.
