Cayos Holandeses
Cayos Holandeses
There the turquoise color, the immensity of the sea and the sky seem to merge in a range of
celestial, blue and green colors.
Dutch Cays are several remote and mostly uninhabited islands along the extreme northwest of
the Guna Yala archipelago. These are some of the most beautiful islands in the entire region
(semi-autonomous reserve). There are small Guna villages on three of the twenty islands.
It is located 15 km from the mainland, being the most distant islands in the entire archipelago.
To get there you need a boat with a powerful motor or a yacht. There are no hotels on the
Dutch Keys, but it may be possible to camp on some of the islands.
Like most islands in the archipelago, Cayos Holandés is characterized by white sand beaches
and palm trees. The water is warm and crystal clear. There is not much to do here other than
relax on the beach, swim, or snorkel. There are impressive corals in some areas, and dolphins
are occasionally seen in the surrounding waters.
