ANTERA (HEAD OF SARI)

The anthers on the flower are part of the flower structure that forms the pollen that will
be used in the flower pollination process.

Anther structure:

- Epidermis (exothecium)), is the outermost layer that acts as a protector,

maintains moisture, and protects the inside from various disturbances.
- Endothecium is the second layer after the epidermis, which functions in forming the
anther opening.
- The middle layer is the third layer after the endothelial cell layer which functions to
store starch which will later become pollen grains during the maturation process.
- Tapetum, is the part that serves as a source of nutrition for the developing
pollen, where at this locus there is pollen.
- Connectivum, is the part that acts as a connecting the stamen to the anther.

OVARIUM
The ovary is the enlarged basal part of the pistil, the female organ of the flower. The
ovaries contain ovules, which develop into seeds after fertilization. The ovules together
with the stamens have a special role in the process of fertilization and plant growth. In
the ovary there is an egg which is located right at the base of the flower, the ovary itself
serves as a place for fertilization to occur.
The ovary of the flower is attached to the stigma of the male by a tube known as a stylus,
through which pollen is transferred to fertilize the ovules which are deposited in the
ovary. Once the ovule is fertilized and developed into a seed, the ovary can serve as a
vehicle for dispersing the seed so that it can germinate.
