HEART DISSECTION

Answer the following:

1. What is the cut done to present the inner structures of the
heart?
Frontal plane cut- a vertical cut that separates the front from
the back of the specimen.
2. What are the vessels that supply blood to the cardiac
muscle?
Coronary Circulation

The aorta (the main blood supplier to the body) branches off
into two main coronary blood vessels (also called arteries).
These coronary arteries branch off into smaller arteries,
which supply oxygen-rich blood to the entire heart muscle.
The right coronary artery supplies blood mainly to the right
side of the heart. The left coronary artery, which branches
into the left anterior descending artery and the circumflex
artery, supplies blood to the left side of the heart.

3. What do you call the flaplike lateral wall of each atrium?

Auricles

4. The myocardium of the _______ ventricle is thicker than the

other?
The myocardium of the LEFT ventricle is thicker than the
other because the left ventricle must create a lot of pressure
to pump blood into the aorta and throughout systemic
circulation.

5. The ____ are beamlike processes of the inner face of the

myocardium.
The TRABECULAE are beamlike process of the inner face
of the myocardium.
