1. INTRODUCTION
1 STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM
The Coronavirus (2019-nCoV), officially
named as Covid-19 pandemic by World
Health Organization. This virus spread more
than 180 countries around the world. The
world's most affected economies due to
coronavirus are the European Union, the US,
Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, and Vietnam.
The economy around the world is literally
having a recession including the airlines due
to travel ban in each country.
Airports are area of land or water used for
landing or takeoff of an aircraft. It is also
essential in economic activities to travel
throughout the world and become more
important for business. Airports are also the
key for tourism and international trade and
also contribute to the economy by increasing
connectivity. But now all airports around the
world are facing crisis because of the
recession caused by Covid-19. The workers
in aviation industry are also facing the
problem due to pandemic and they're relieved
employee.
The Covid-19 spread around the world. It
is also impacted of all industries; all aspects
of people live with catastrophic economic and
financial losses. Covid-19 is having cautious
effect in economic like depression
comparable with the financial crisis. A lot of
countries hit by virus and experience a
recession in all economic activities. However,
this pandemic has twist effect on the local
and global economy and it would enigmatic to
estimate the economy cost.
Global road transport activity was almost
50% below the 2019 average by the end of
March 2020 and commercial flight activity
almost 75% below 2019 average by mid -
April 2020 by (IEA, 2020). The Global
aviation industry had been facing the
recession not only the Philippines. However,
According to (Ramos. T, 2020) UK's
restriction on public transport has led to a
95% reduction in underground journeys in
London. Aviation industry has stop and
resulting to go down the economy.

The study aims to understand the
impact of Covid-19 in Philippines Aviation
Industry. Specific questions that the
researcher aims to answer are the following.
1. The Impact on aviation industry
2. Impact on Supply
3. Impact on operating revenues
2.2 SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY
The study seeks to understand the
impact of Covid-19 in Philippine aviation
industry. The study may benefit the following:
Passengers- The study will help them
to know the impact of Covid-19 in Airports
and Airlines.
For the researcher- the study will help
to understand the impact of Covid-19 in
Philippine aviation industry.

Impact of Covid-19 in aviation
The aviation industry has witnessed a
recession over the past couple of years
during the time of Covid-19 pandemic. A lot of
country in aviation industry has been a
determine to developmental sector give to
social development and economic growth In
any case of the industry at risk to various
shocks, the aviation industry resilience to
deal with the crisis endure low in many
respects. According to (Sun et al. 2020)
although the aviation sector was one of the
worst affected economic sectors by Covid-19,
it also played a central role in spreading the
disease in the early of pandemic. The
aviation industry should adopt safety
protocols such as disinfection of aircraft to
destroy strain virus. Moreover, according to
(Chung L, H. 2015) the aviation industry rapid
growth paved the way for the rapid
proliferation and spreading of disease
through people movement, which placed a
demand on the sector to take appropriate
protective measures to protect the global
economy. Airlines across Asia are deep
trouble to cope with unequal economic crisis
which they have very little control of
spreading disease. The initiatives to ensure
the industry volume to deal with warning to its
business and it is also the result of airlines
collapse. According to (Bobashev et al.,
2008) the aviation industry has making
progress in terms of having developing
computer models capable of simulating
patterns of epidemics and pandemics
spreading through airline transportation
network across airports worldwide.
Regardless of these advances the issue
becomes clear and the industry has normally
not mastered the development of adequate
financial to offer with the reoccur cost
imposed by disasters and other factors of
shocks.
The aviation sectors suffer a lot. The
airlines in Philippines is been bankrupt since
Covid-19 started. The airlines most recent
financial results testify to the impact of Covid-
19. According to (Greg W, October 2020) for
the second quarter ended 30 June, the carrier
posted an operating loss of Ps11.5 billion
($237 million), compared with an operating
loss of Ps2.3 billion a year earlier. Revenue
for the quarter was Ps4.7 billion, 90% below
the second quarter of 2019. The aviation
industry in Philippine was implementing travel
ban. Moreover, according to (Jose, P. 2020)
"We've basically had to reinvent ourselves
overnight since march because all the
lockdowns and everything and only able to
resume flying on 1 June, and of course, we
started with only three or four percent of our
total operations.
4. METHODS
The Aviation Industry in the Philippines suffer
a lot in terms of tourism and economics.
Philippine Airlines is cutting up top thirds of its
workforce and 2700 jobs.
The researcher use case study as methods in
this research in order to get the Data
collection and Data analysis.
4.1 DATA COLLECTION
This research wants to aim the impact of
Covid-19 in aviation industry. It’s also
important to know the possibilities of
recession in aviation industry. The aviation
industry has facing a lot of problems because
of the travel ban due to cause of Covid-19.
4.2 DATA ANALYSIS
This research process an alternative
approach to analyze the impact of Covid-19
in Philippine Aviation industry by focusing the
performance of airlines with respect. The
importance for airlines of improving the
protocols and safety of a passenger in order
to avoid Covid-19.For more information on
the various survey-based methods used,
Accordig to (Juan et al., 2015) conducted a
survey of survey based analysis of public
transportation system. They concluded that
even though researchers keep trying to
improve the complexity of the models to
better model passenger satisfaction of a
public transportation system, managers and
practitioners use simpler models in order to
reach their goal of improving passenger
perceived service quality for an increase of
income.
Findings
This Findings was accumulated (Lawrence.,et al
2021)
1. The maximal percentage of
cities/towns with guidelines and/or
contingency plans in transport and
logistics sector against public health
threats was only about 30%, on
average.

2. Nearly 70% of cities/towns where
experts were living, experienced or
were still experiencing lockdown.
3. Stay-at-home campaigns, physical
distancing measures in public
transport and goods delivery,
economic measures, avoidance of
face-to-face social contacts, and online
activities were the predominant
measures against COVID-19 in the
transport sector.
Conclusions
The study focused on the impact of Covid-19
in aviation industry and the restrictions of
safety protocols to avoid the virus. The main
challenge for today is recession of the
aviation industry because a lot workers was
relieved and the business traveler also have
a big problem due to travel ban.
Limitations of the Research and future
Research

to help facilitate a recovery of the aviation
and tourism sectors during a period of much
lower international traffic.
2 | CAREC countries should consider
opening green lanes to facilitate and
stimulate travel and tourism within CAREC.
3 | CAREC countries should consider
implementing a visa-free policy to further
facilitate travel and tourism within CAREC.

general support packages to the aviation and
tourism industries through benefits such as
wage subsidies, tax reductions, and fee
waivers.
12 | CAREC should consider alternative
funding options to offset the impact of
reduced overflight revenues.
