THE SEMI-DETAILED LESSON PLAN IN ENGLISH FOR NURSERY

I. Objectives:
At the end of 30 minutes lesson, the pupils will be able to:
1) Distinguish the sound of the vowel letters in the English Alphabet.
2) Appreciate the importance of vowels by being friendly with classmates, friends, and family.
3) Point out the correct beginning vowel letter sound for the given pictures.

II. Subject Matter:


Topic: The Vowel Letters: A, E, I, O, U
Skill: Phonetics Presentation- The Vowel Letter sound of A, E, I, O, U

III. Procedure:
A. Preliminary Activities: (Balahay, Lovella)
1. Prayer
Good day everyone! Before we start with our class, let us be quiet for a short time for the
opening prayer. Please watch the video properly and silently. (The teacher plays the video on the
screen).
2. Checking of Attendance
Today, for your attendance, I am going to call your name and you pupils will respond by raising your
flags in the comment section below. (The teacher checks the attendance online).
3. Checking of Assignment
Class, I will check your assignment. Thank you for passing it in our Google Classroom. (The teacher
checks the assignment in the Google Classroom).
4. Review
 What was our lesson yesterday?
 How many vowel letters you have learned already?
 Who can produce/give sound of the vowels; A, E, I, and O?
5. Motivation
Please watch the song on the screen and look at the underline word written in the song. Listen to
the beginning sound of the underlined word. (The teacher plays the nursery song in the screen).

B. Actual Activities: (Refamonte, Raquel)

1. Presentation

You are already introduced to the beginning sound of the five vowel letters in the
alphabet. Now, for more understanding, look on the pictures presented on the
screen. What do you observe? There are pictures of different objects and aside from
that there are letters on it. These letters are the vowels A, E, I, O and U.
2. Development of the Topic
To further understand the vowel letters, look on the screen again. In the table, there are words, and
they are put under the vowels A, E, I, O and U. There are three words under each letter which serves as
examples. Each of the words starts with the vowels A, E, I, O, and U.

3. Discussion Proper

There are five vowels in the alphabet, the vowels A, E, I, O and U.


These are pronounced as A, E, I, O and U. The vowel A is pronounced as
“A”. Say for example, apple, ant, and Ana. The vowel E is pronounced as
“E”. Say for example, elephant, egg and envelope. The vowel I is
pronounce as “I”. Say for example, ink, India, and indigo. The vowel O is
pronounced as “O”. Say for example, in the words, orange, octopus and
October. Lastly is the vowel “U”. It is pronounced as “U”. Say for
example, the words umbrella, under, and Uncle.

4. Drill
To check you understanding on the Five Vowel Letters in the alphabet. Please answer the given activity.
Direction: Look at the picture carefully. Connect the pictures to its correct beginning sound.

5.Activity
Now, since you have already mastered the Five
Vowel Letters in the English alphabet. Please answer the
activity that follow.
Direction: Look at the picture carefully and drag the pictures to the box that gives it’s correct beginning
sound. It can be in the vowel A, E, I, O or U.
