NOTE: Throughout this project, we will be working in a spiral. Do NOT slip stitch
at the end of your rows, place a stitch marker in the first or last stitch of your row
so that you can keep track.
NOTE: The body and head will be worked in one piece. Be sure to
stuff as you go.

Starting with the legs, using the color BLACK and a 9MM hook

Round 1: Make a magic ring and SC 6

Round 2: SC INC every stitch (12)

Round 3-4 (2 rounds total): SC every stitch (12)

CHANGE TO COLOR WHITE

Round 5-12 (8 rounds total): SC every stitch (12)

MAKE 2 LEGS. Fasten off on the first leg. On the

second leg, do NOT fasten off. Continue to row 13
once you are completed with both legs.

Round 13: On the second leg, SC 4 to make sure the the color
changes are facing the same direction on both legs, this will be
the backside of your chunky cow. SC into the other leg, and
continue to SC around both legs. (24)

At this point, you may notice a gap or hole between the legs. To close the hole, simply
take a strand of the white yarn and weave it between the legs, cinch it and double/
triple knot it closed.

Round 14-20 (7 rounds total): SC every stitch (24)

Don’t forget to stuff as you go! You will want to make sure you stuff your cow firmly.

Round 21: SC 2, INV DEC. Repeat around (18)

Round 22: SC every stitch. (18)

Round 23: SC 1, INV DEC. Repeat around (12)

Here is where we will start the head. Don’t forget to stuff the body firmly!

Round 24: SC 1, INC in the next stitch. Repeat around (18)

Round 25: SC 2, INC in the next stitch. Repeat around (24)

Round 26: SC 3, INC in the next stitch. Repeat around (30)

Round 27: SC 4, INC in the next stitch. Repeat around (36)

Round 28-33 (6 rounds total): SC every stitch (36)

Round 34: SC 4, INV DEC. Repeat around. (30)

At this point, we will insert our safety eyes. Place the eyes
between rounds 31 and 32 about 5 stitches apart.

Round 35: SC 3, INV DEC. Repeat around (24)

Round 36: SC 2, INV DEC. Repeat around (18)

Round 37: SC 1, INV DEC. Repeat around (12)

Round 38: INV DEC all the way around (6)

Now, you may finish stuffing (making sure your cow is stuffed firmly) and sew the
head closed going through the front loop of each 6 stitches, then pull it closed.
Secure your end, and hide it inside the body.

Arms, using the color BLACK and a 9MM hook

Round 1: Make a magic ring and SC 6

Round 2: SC INC in every stitch (12)

Round 3: SC every stitch (12)

CHANGE TO COLOR WHITE

Round 4-10 (7 rounds total): SC every stitch (12)

Lightly stuff at the bottom of the arm. Over stuffing the

arms will cause the arms to stick out too much.

Round 11: INV DEC all the way around (6)

Make 2 arms. Using your yarn needle, sew the arm shut
across.

Ears, using the color BLACK and 8MM hook

Round 1: Make a magic ring and SC 6

Round 2: SC 1, INC in the next stitch. Repeat around (9)

Round 3-7 (5 rounds total): SC every stitch (9)

Fasten off. Make 2. Do NOT stuff the ears. At the opening of the ear, fold it in half to
form the ear shape. Sew the ear shut using the tail of the yarn. Leave a long tail for
sewing to the body.

Horns, using the color SAND and 8MM hook

Round 1: Make a magic ring and SC 6

Round 2-4 (3 rounds total): SC every stitch (6)

Fasten off. Make 2. Stuff the horns. Leave a long tail for sewing to the body.

Mouth, using the color BABY PINK and 8MM hook

Round 1: Chain 4. SC in the 2nd chain from the hook. SC 1, then place 3 SC in the last stitch,
turning your work to start crocheting down the opposite side of the chain. SC 1, then place 2 SC in
the last stitch. (8)

Round 2: Place 2 SC in the first stitch. SC 1, then place 2 SC in each of the next three stitches. SC
1, then place 2 SC in each of the last two stitches. (14)

Round 3: SC every stitch (14)

Fasten off. Leave a long tail for sewing to the body.

Cow spots, using the BLACK and 8MM hook

Note: Keep in mind the stitches for the cow spots aren’t that important. I usually just
randomly place DC’s, HDC’s and SC’s. So feel free to make your own spots!

Round 1: Make a magic ring and SC 6.

Round 2: Place 1 HDC and 2 DC’s in the next stitch. Then place 2 DC’s in the next. Place a HDC
and SC in the next stitch. Place 2 DC’s in the next stitch. Place 2 DC’s and 1 HDC in the next
stitch. Place a SC in the next stitch. Place 2 DC’s in the next stitch. HDC in the next stitch. Slip
stitch into the next stitch.

Fasten off. Make 4 spots. Leave a long tail for sewing onto the body.

ASSEMBLY

ARMS: Sew the arms just under the head making sure the are in line with the legs.

EARS: Sew the ears about 4 rows from the top of the head. Be sure to line up the ears with the
arms to make sure that they’re even on the side of the body.

HORNS: Make sure the horns are stuffed, and sew them next to the ears making sure they are in
line.

MOUTH: Make sure the mouth is stuffed. Sew the mouth onto the face just under the eyes.

SPOTS: Sew 2 spots on the front of the body, and 2 spots on the back.
