VI. PRE-ASSESSMENT
1. Why do you think crimes are being punished under the law?
We, human beings tend to commit crimes for a variety of reasons. These varied reasons have
social, economic, and cultural implications. These elements influence a person's decision to
engage in illegal activity. Peer pressure and school failure are two social factors. Poverty is one
of the economic reasons. Hatred is a cultural reason. A person who commits crimes is the result
of a mixture of these variables.
Crimes are being punished by the law because it causes harm, shows injustice and it is not right.

Cailing.
Watch: c After reading and watching the reference stated below, I want you to explain the concept, nature
and scope of criminology within 3minute video presentation.
In a whole sheet of paper, I want you to narrate briefly a real-life experience of yours, or of your
family or acquaintances to be victimized of a crime and reflect from that experience the
importance of studying crimes and criminals.
Everyone is different, but we all have one thing in common, regardless of gender, race, age, or
socioeconomic status. We are all members of a society. I chose to study Criminology because I
am passionate about this area of society.
We all have been bullied or witnessed some form of bullying or discrimination in our life. It is
something we can all agree is not moral but still happening in every society around the world.
Bullying affects everyone one of any age, gender, and race. It even effects those with physical and
mental disabilities. When I was in my middle school, I received bullies or discrimination because
of my gender. And even if I reported them to the guidance councillor, they don’t even make an
action. That time I realised that, that kind of issue is not important to them, So its very injustice
In order for the criminal justice system to gain public trust, there must be a clear trend of justice
being served as a result of criminal activity in the community. The number of crimes has
constantly increased in modern times, resulting in a renewed necessity for enhanced criminal
justice programs.
