“The Cask of Amontillado” by Edgar Allan Poe

I. Objectives
At the end of this lesson, the students shall be able to:
1. answer questions about the story, “The Cask of Amontillado” with depth and proper
pronunciation and grammar;
2. discuss the importance of forgiving the people who had wronged them;
3. explain the other form of revenge; and
4. cite specific ways on how misunderstandings among people can be solved.

Activity 1: Role Play
1.1 : Introduction of the teacher
-The teacher will tell the students that
they will be having a role play related to
the story, “The Cask of
Amontillado.” (The story was given
prior to the role play presentation. The
teacher already asked the students to
read the story in advance.)

1.2 : Presentation of the Rubrics


-The teacher will present the rubrics for
the role play.

1.3 : Grouping of students


-The teacher will divide the students
into four groups.

1.4 : Presentation of the scenario


-The teacher will distribute the situation
to each group. He/she just prepared one
situation in order for him/her to see if
they will act mutually or differently.

1.5 : Preparation of each group


-The teacher will give each group at least
3 minutes to prepare for the given
situation.
-They will appoint members to
conceptualize their role play and

PowerPoint. He/she will tell the students to get
their copy of the story. In this part, he/she will
also ask some questions about the story.
