CREATIVITY

CREATIVITY IN HISTORICAL PERSPECTIVE IN FOUR

GENERATIONS

BIBLICAL ERA
Some people think that human intelligence, for example as

evidenced through language and through individual creative

abilities, indicates something of humankind's divinely-given

qualities. There is, however, a clear distinction to be drawn

between God, the creator, and everything else in the universe –

creation. The word ‘creature' means ‘something created', and in

this sense all humans, as well as all other matter, are creatures.

GREECE AND ROME

Roman architecture was unlike anything that had come before. The

Persians, Egyptians, Greeks, and Etruscans all had monumental

architecture. The grandeur of their buildings, though, was largely

external. Buildings were designed to be impressive when viewed

from outside because their architects all had to rely on building in a

post-and-lintel system, which means that they used two upright

posts, like columns, with a horizontal block, known as a lintel, laid

flat across the top.

RENAISSANCE AND AGE OF

ENLIGHTENMENT
Renaissance we saw important developments in subject matter, in

addition to style. While religion was an important element in the

daily life of people living during the Renaissance and remained a

driving factor behind artistic production, we also see a new avenue

open to panting mythological subject matter.

INDUSTRIAL AND TECHNOLOGICAL

REVOLUTION
The Industrial era of change is being brought about by a whole

cluster of technologies, some of which have an exceptional

capacity for horizontal diffusion in all sectors of the economy

and society and an equally exceptional capacity for cross-

fertilization. Key technologies in this category include the

microelectronics-information technologies complex, the

biotechnologies, and the new materials science.
