The variable displacement twin pump consists of two individual pumps of axial piston - swash plate
design which can be controlled independently from one another.
Both pumps (P1/P2) are driven by the Diesel engine through a disconnectable or a direct con- nection.
Due to the adjacent location of the cylinders and swash plates, the sens of rotation of pump (P2) is
opposed to that of pump (P1).
The supply of both pumps is realized via a joint suction connection of connecting housing (G) and they
are feeding individual working circuits of the hydraulic svstem via pressure connections (Al/A2). The
leakage oil of both pumps is led by a separate leakage pipe directly to the hydraulic tank.
The variation angle and thus the displacement of the pumps is controlled by the solenoid valves and
regulators of the control units (V1/V2).
For the control oil pressure supply, the above version also features a gear pump (Z) located adjacent to
pump (P2) and which is driven by the drive shafts of pumps (P1/P2).

Putting into service:

Remove screw plugs (T1/T2) and fill pump housing with specified hydraulic oil (see table of lubricants).

LTM 1080/1 - Superstructure OW-05
Drive assembly - var. displacement double pump LPVD 100 EL/DA
Design and function

Prequisite: Pump drive in action

A) Function: min. pump variation angle

lf variation solenoid (1) is in idle position (currentless), the control piston (2) is pressed by
the resilience of control spring (3) to the right (to the solenoid). This relieves the piston area
(K) of the regulating piston (7) via control board (S1) of the control piston (2) towards the
tank.
At a control pressure (Px = 45 bar) acting on the regulating ring area (R), the regulating
piston (7) retains the variable displacement pump in neutral position = min. variation angle.

At this stage, the pump circulating pressure is approx. 7 to 9 bar.

B) Function: Start of variation - pump working pressure

On activating variation solenoid (1) with approx. 200 mA, the actuation pin (l.1), against
the resilience of control spring (3), causes a displacement of control piston (2) until the start
of variation, adjusted at regulating screw (y) is atteint. This causes the admission of working
pressure to the regulating piston area (K) via the control edge (S2) of control piston (2).
Thus, control piston (7) causes a min. variation of the pump and is retained in the pre-
selected position by guiding piston (5) and pivot (6).

At this stage, the pump working pressure (min) is approx. 10 to 12 bar.

C) Function: Min. to max. pump variation angle

When activating variation solenoid (1) with 200 to 700 mA, the control piston (2) continues
working pressure to be applied to the regulating piston area (K) via contrel board (S2) and
the pump. The position of the pump is led back via pivot (6) as counter-force on control
spring (4) and is acting, via control piston (2) against the solenoid force.

Note:
The measuring connection (MA 1/2) only allows checking of the adjusting pressure (Pst)!

D) Function: Pressure cut-off

The pressure cut-off valve (8) serves as pump protection.

At the response of the pressure cut-off valve, the pump activation is interrupted and thus
returned to Q-min.
The cut-off pressure, adjusted at the regulating screw (z), is approx. 20 to 50 bar beyond the
max. operating pressure.

Note:
The cut-off pressure has been adjusted at the factory and should not be deregulated.
