WHAT IS VU’S BLOCK MODEL? WHY IS VU’S BLOCK MODEL

In 2018, we introduced a new, highly-effective way of learning
BETTER FOR ME?
to make your transition to university easier and give you the
skills to succeed when you enter the workforce.

Rather than dealing with the stress of studying four units YOUR TRANSITION TO UNI WILL BE EASIER

from day one.
We call these four-week study periods ‘blocks’. Each block
focusses on one unit (subject) and includes all assessments.
You’ll then get up to four days between blocks to relax
and prepare for the next subject.

face-to-face teaching sessions per week, scheduled over
three days. These are available in multiple combinations
of days and times (morning, mid-morning, afternoon and
evening), allowing you to choose the combination that
best suits you.

Subjects with labs and professional experience (called

‘pracs’) have extra teaching hours, and where relevant,
will be scheduled on the same days as teaching sessions.
Teaching sessions will not run on more than two
consecutive days, which means you will have a gap day
between teaching sessions and two gap days each week.

Assessments have been designed to be completed within

each four-week block, with most work completed in class.
Early and ongoing feedback, along with online and
out-of-class support, will help you to achieve your best.
You will have a great sense of how you’re progressing in
your course, with final grades for subjects available at the
end of each block.
