Rebuilding for the future

Tennis season has begun, and
this year the Seneca High School
team is in rebuilding mode. Last
year, the team graduated two top
players who played first and sec-
ond singles for all four years and
lost some players to injuries.
Coach Sue Johnson sees many op-
portunities to rebuild the team
and bring its current record up.
“This is a rebuilding year for
us, we are rebuilding,” Johnson
said. “We have one person who is
a senior, we have a pretty young
team.”
Although the team is young,
Johnson and coach Mike Manna
see many opportunities in it.
They know they have players who
work hard and are invested in
making the team the best it can
be.
“Our team is very motivated,
they practice hard,” Manna said.
“I think with a little more expe-
rience they will be able to take the
team to a different level,” John-
son said.
The coaches also see a lot of
growth opportunity with their
top three players being sopho-
mores. They work the team hard
and are trying to get everyone ac-

“Our top three players are
sophomores, so we have a lot of
growing to do,” Manna said. “We
are doing a lot of conditioning
with them, getting them into
shape.
“Our only returning player
played second doubles last year,
and this year he is playing first
singles,” Johnson said. “So it is
like learning a whole new game.”

faces, the coaches and the players
are up for them. With the team
being mostly underclassmen they
will continue to improve and will
rebuild the team into a strong,
competitive one.
“We have a good team,” said
Johnson. “They are all at the
same level and they all challenge
each other.”

Are you ready for some football?

On April 30, the flag football
season for Glory Days Sports
adult sports league begins, and
with it, the rookie season for 14
local teens from Southampton,
Tabernacle, and Indian Mills.
The team, organized by quar-
terback Connor Hughes, consists
of 18- and 19-year-old college stu-
dents enrolled in schools ranging
from Burlington County College
to Rowan University.
“The majority of us all came
from Seneca High School and
have been friends since our fresh-
man year, and we’ve always been
doing different things together,
from camping trips to trips to the
beach,” Hughes said. “I remem-
ber we all got together one day
and I brought up the idea of us
joining an adult sporting league
and everyone loved the idea. After
some searching I found Glory
Days Sports, and it just took off
from there.”
At that moment, Alpha Q was
born. With a playbook consisting
of everything from the wildcat
formation to a double wide re-
ceiver reverse, practices and
scrimmages scheduled, and team
meetings once a week; Alpha Q is
ready to take Glory Days Sports
by storm. A team led by head
coach Bill Hill features a starting
offense of Ryan Kuski at running
back, wide receivers Brieanne
Galvin, Corinne Pawlowski, and
Conner Doud, Hughes at quarter-
back and Dan Holmes at center.
The talented defense consists of

sixth Annual Golf Outing at Lit-
tle Mill Country Club in Marlton
on Monday, May 2.
Registration is at 11 a.m. with

p.m. Dinner is at 6 p.m. and
awards and auctions will be at
