B’s start off return from COVID vacation by

falling to Devils in last-ditch effort

Jack Richmond Feb 19, 2021

On Feb 18, 2021, the Bruins returned to TD Garden to face the young and sneaky-talented Devils
after having another unexpected break due to COVID-19 safety precautions.
If you watched the game last night, you probably saw a lower intensity level than usual from the
Bruins for most of the game. Careless passes, sloppy puck-handling, they really had it all figured
out.
“You would think after four, five days away from playing we would have been a hungrier team,
but we weren’t, so we will address that.” Coach Cassidy said after the mostly poor effort
(@NHLBruins twitter).
Not every Bruin was painful to watch though, as I have noticed young forwards Anders Bjork
and Jake Debrusk are starting to become electric role players. They really seem to skate their
heart out throughout every shift which is exactly what this team needs. Hustling to every puck is
so important, and these two have showed the success that comes with that.
Bjork drew a four-minute high-sticking penalty which led to a Debrusk goal with about 30
seconds left in the power play which put the Bruins on the board, making it a 2-1 contest.
The Bruins were obviously not their best, losing 3-2 to the Devils Thursday night.
I expect them to return as a well-oiled machine on Sunday at Lake Tahoe for the highly
anticipated NHL Outdoors event. They get the Flyers at 3:00 pm EST.
