School Policy on Solid Waste Reduction

Statement of the Purpose
Environmental awareness is an important aspect of a young person’s education and it plays a vital role in the students’
relationship with the school, the community and the wider world.
The Science Club together with the other active school organization aims to promote solid waste reduction in Cagsiay 1
National High School. The project also aims to strengthen and raise the level of environmental awareness among the
students, teachers and community and transfer this knowledge into positive environmental action in the school, home and
also in the wider community.
Policy
1. Zero-Waste - All plastic wastes are prohibited inside the school campus. Proper sanctions and penalty shall be
imposed to violators. Students are encouraged to consume canteen foods and ban from buying foods outside of
the school during school hours/recess time. Students and other school personnel are encouraged to bring their
own reusable containers if needed. Proper sanctions and penalty shall be imposed to violators.

2. Bamboo – Students have their own bamboo mug to be used for drinking water to reduce the use of plastic water
bottle. Each student is responsible in taking care of their bamboo mug/cup. Classroom monitoring on the bamboo
by the class adviser every morning and in the afternoon.

3. Waste Disposal – All litter must be properly disposed in the correct din. Trash bins are available from designated
areas within the school premises. Trash bins consist of 3 categories:
a. Recyclable waste/ Non-biodegradable (Di-nabubulok)
b. Compostable waste/ Biodegradable (Nabubulok)
c. Residual waste (Panapon/Walang Pakinabang)
