I. Objectives:
Read and write words, phrases and sentences with /oy/ and /oi/ dipthongs
Identify and use descriptive adjectives
II. Reference
Teacher’s Guide: pp. 241
Learner’s Material: Activities 202 and 203
Other Materials: LCD projector, laptop, manila paper
III. Procedures
A. Review
Answer the activity.
B. Drill
Let the students read words and phrases with dipthongs /oy/ and /oi/.
C. Motivation
Ask: 1. Who is your best friend?
2. What can you say about him/ her?
3. How do you describe him/ her as your best friend?
D. Presentation/ Analysis
Let the students read the sentences.
1. There was a strong typhoon.
2. The big trees were uprooted.
3. There was a heavy rain.
4. The wide streets were flooded.
5. The small houses were destroyed.
Ask:
In the first sentence, what word tells about the typhoon? Underline.
In the second sentence, what word tells about the trees? Underline.
(Do the same until the fifith sentence.)
E. Generalization/ Abstraction
Let the students read the underlined words together.
Ask:
What do we call them? What kind of words are these?
These are called adjectives.
What are adjectives?
Adjectives are words that describe.
There are words that describe a person, a place, or an object. These words tell how
something or someone looks like or what something is. Words like: important, honest, fair,
kind, and good are adjectives.
F. Application
Group the class into two and give them the activities by each group. One member of the
group should report/ present to the class their work.
Group 1 – Paste under the correct column of adjectives or nouns.
ADJECTIVES NOUNS
Group 2 – Sentences is given and let them encircle the adjectives used in each sentence and
underline the noun it describes.
1. Anaconda is a large snake.
2. She gave a nice performance.
3. The dogs did the funny tricks.
4. This is a short stick.
IV. Assessment
Answer the test given.
A. Encircle the adjectives used in each sentence and underline the noun it describes.
1. Danny caught the red ball.
2. The dog found a large stick.
3. My mom is a pretty lady.
4. The little tree is easy to climb.
5. Lisa likes to ride in fast cars.
