The Importance of Diversity in the Workplace

A. Based on Video 1, discuss one (1) importance of workplace diversity.


 Improve your business reputation- The culture of your business is imperative if you want to attracted
and retained top talent within your organization. Businesses with diverse employee based are known to
have conflict but they also resolve the conflict to come up with new innovation for daily tasks or
business processes, This innovation will help your employees grow and tribe in their careers. Through
speaking with their colleagues and customers, your employee's positive story about their work would
propagate the reputation of the company.
Your business reputation makes its way into every facet of your business’s existence. It both impacts
and is impacted by the way people read your emails, interpret your social media posts, talk to others
about your business, and more. This is why reputation is so important in business, and why it is your
responsibility to exercise the aspects of reputation building that are in your control.
High Quality Products/Services are also one of the strongest components of your company’s reputation.
They will impact your image in the eyes of others based upon how well they solve the problems that
your target audience has, how innovative they are, and their level of quality. The better your products
and services are, the more they will be used, and the more others in your community will see them
being used.
A Positive Customer Experience It’s not just the products and services that give your company a good
reputation. It’s the delivery of those products and services, and the experience they create for the
customer. You may have top notch product, but if you deliver it in an impersonal or colorless way, you
won’t create much of an impact. Putting thought and effort into ensuring a great experience for your
customers will boost your business reputation more than just ensuring a great product.

B. In your perspective, is it possible for a sound collaboration to occur from a diverse set of employees?
 Yes, it is possible because team needs to feel that their voice is appreciated and that they have room to
do cool things. Let them test their ideas, see what works and what could be improved, and make sure
they know that they have to opportunity to do so. The more teams know about changing goals and new
opportunities for the business, the more involved they will feel in its success. Creative marketing ideas
stem naturally from the desire to participate in the company's growth and awareness of the right
direction. Collaboration would help to gain more knowledge for the other’s ideas and it also help to
build a good relationship in the workplace.

Cross-Cultural Communications

C. Based on Video 2, how does cross-cultural communications address workplace conflicts and diversity
barriers?
 Cross cultural communication is the interaction of persons with other individuals from different cultural
ethnic racial, gender, sexual orientation, religious, age and class backgrounds. The ability to engage in
positive relationships with persona coming from a different background, this is done by mediating one’s
cultural differences through language, non-verbal gestures, and relationships. A process by which
express their openness to an intercultural experience. Cross cultural communication includes
knowledge in many areas, such as other cultures values, perceptions, manners, social structures,
decision making practices, and an understanding of how members of the group communicate socially
and formally. Effective communication with people of different cultures is especially challenging.
Cultural awareness shapes how business firms behave in cross-culturally reflected international
markets. It is broadly recognized that cultural factors act as invisible barriers in international business
communications.

D. Why is it beneficial to have cross-cultural communication in the tourism and hospitality workplace?
 Understanding cultural differences is one of the most significant skills for firms to develop in order to
have a competitive advantage in international business. Organizations should focus on eliminating the
cross cultural communication barriers. Understanding of cultural diversity is the key to effective cross-
cultural communications. Firms which fail to understand the cross cultural communication barriers face
several issues in many aspects of international business communication. It impacts free trade policies,
localization and standardization strategy decisions, advertising, brand effectiveness, business
relationships, international business management, international marketing, international negotiation,
and consumer behavior, staffing, industrial relations, interpersonal relationships, negotiation, and
teambuilding. It can help also to gain a lot of travelers and it will easy to understand them because we
learned about their language, culture and lifestyle. Travelers and customer was knowledgeable and
capable to expect higher standards and it can also demand personalized service.
