Novel Kim Ji-Yeong Born in 1982 by Cho Nam Joo published in 2016 telling about, Kim
Ji-Yeong was a girl born into a family who wishes for a son. Kim Ji-Yeong was a girl who got a
blame from male teacher in her school. Kim Ji-Yeong was a student who had never
recommended as an apprentice at a prestigious company, she was also an exemplary employee
who had never been promoted, and she was the wife who gave up her career and freedom to raise
a child.

This novel telling about how people look at women back in the day, we can see that this
book took 1982 which mean that in those days, most woman received inappropriate treatment of
men or so-called gender equality. The novel tells us that Kim Ji-Yeong is a housewife who
should be able to be normal, but the longer she loses “herself” and she has depressed because of
social construction throughout her life.

The character in the novel is, Kim Ji-Yeong who is described as all of women in the
world, Jung Dae-Hyeon is portrayed as a loving husband, and their little daughter.

The genre of this novel is social life. The real thing of this novel is the place settings of
Soul and Busan and its conflict concering gender equality.
