1.3.2.2 Explore - Knowing the Business

Assume you have a softdrinks wholesale business. You sell Coca Cola
products to residents in the nearly subdivision and food establishments.  You
wish to know whether you are making a profit or not from your business for a
month’s worth of operations. Before you would be able to know the same,
you need to determine such things as the following:

1. How much do you intend to sell these products?  What will be the
mark-up percentage?
- Let’s assume that the cocacola products are sold for 10php per
bottle, however I will resell it for 13php in which the price will
be increased for about 3php.
(13-10)/10 * 100 = 30% will be the mark up

2. How many units do you expect to sell?

- Let’s say I expect to sell 1000 units per month

3. How much do you shell out for the items you buy for sale in your
store?
- If the cocacola products are sold for 10php and my expected units
to be sold is 1000, then (1000x10)= 10,000

4. How many of the items are left unsold at the end of the month?
- I’d only allow 20% or 200 units to be left unsold
