Pharmacology
● Drug replacement therapy: Folate
○ Dosage: 1mg per day via oral route
○ For those with malabsorption
syndromes: 5mg per day

Nursing management
Dietary and lifestyle changes
● Educate client to eat foods high in folic
acid, such as:
○ Green leafy vegetables
○ Enriched grain products
○ Breakfast cereals
○ Orange juice
○ Peanuts
○ Avocado
● Encourage alternate rest and activity
periods
○ Avoid activity right after meals
● Aid with regular physical activities
