Proposed Topic/Title 1: The Public Perception of AcSci SHS

Students to Underage Drinking

Motivation of the Researcher Many youths are facing the aftermath of

binge drinking at an early age. Thereby,
underage drinking has become a major
public health issue. Underage youth turn to
alcohol to cope with the physical,
emotional, and lifestyle changes they
undergo. Thus, this study motivates in such
a manner that having students' perceptions
provides a foundation for comprehending
all aspects of young people who use
alcohol.

The focus of the study sought to see how

the students' perspectives about the role of
alcohol in the lives of underage teenagers
differ. The study aids in increasing a better
understanding of students' perceptions of
how alcohol fits into the lives of teenagers
to amend future public health interventions

Research Gap While there is a considerable amount of

research that is solely concentrated on the
public perception of underage drinking, it
would appear as if it has not been
thoroughly studied based on the mixed
results and conclusions owing to the diverse
categories of participants. As a result, more
testing should be carried out in order to
create effective measures and gain a more
in-depth understanding of the subject.

Statement of the Problem 1. What are the factors that influence

early adolescents to drink alcohol in
their underage stage?

2. How may the participants'

perception be described in terms of
their:
a. Knowledge about underage
drinking
b. Awareness on underage drinking's
detrimental effects on their health

3. What are the most effective

combinations of strategies in
reducing and/or preventing underage
drinking?

4. How may the participants be

described in terms of the following:
a. Age they started drinking alcohol
b. How frequent they drink alcohol

Type of Quantitative Research

Survey Research

Respondents/Participants of the Study The study's targeted participants are Senior

High School students from Angeles City
Science High School who commonly
engage and know a young individual that
has gone through underage drinking; hence,
they have varying perspectives on the
subject. The sample size of the study is 30
participants, of whom have already
participated in underage drinking.

Proposed Topic/Title 2: The Impact of Grade 12 Students'

Online Gaming Habits on their
Academic Performance Amid Home-
Based Learning

Motivation of the Researcher As the Covid19 pandemic is still ongoing,

schools are not yet open in order to
accommodate face-to-face classes. Thus,
home-based learning: such as modular and
online, was implemented across the
country. As students stay at home, using
technology and the internet can cause
distractions such as online games. In
addition, many students play these types of
games on their smartphones, laptops, and
computers which can be quite addictive and
may distract them from using these gadgets
for learning.

That is why we, the researchers, seek to

perceive the effect of online gaming habits
on the home-based learning performance of
Grade 12 students. And, despite playing
online games, how do Grade 12 students
manage to participate in home-based
learning modalities?
Research Gap As this is a current issue, there are currently
no studies concentrating on the impact of
online gaming habits on a home-based
learning system in this new educational
system. Moreover, many studies have
looked into characteristics of online gaming
that potentially affect students' academic
performance. However, they have not
adequately investigated the influence of
online games on home-based learning,
specifically, modular and online learning of
Grade 12 students in Angeles City.

Statement of the Problem 1. How have students' online gaming

habits affected their academic
performance in terms of:
a. Passing school requirements
b. General Weighted Average
c. Academic Honors/Awards

2. How may the students' online

gaming habits be described in terms
of the following:
a. Frequency
b. Game/s they play
c. Gadget/s they use in playing

3. What are the factors that influence

the Grade 12 students to play online
games?

Type of Quantitative Research Causal-Comparative Research

Respondents/Participants of the Study The study’s respondents will be the SHS

students from Angeles City Science High
School who often play online games and
eventually became their habit. The sample
size of the study will be 30 participants in
order to gain enough data for our study.
Proposed Topic/Title 3: Body Dysmorphic Disorder: How Social
Media Influence ACSci-SHS Students’ Body
Image

Motivation of the Researcher Dissatisfaction with body image is an issue

that can be experienced by anyone,
especially teenagers as they are still in the
midst of adolescence. People set beauty
standards that are eventually displayed
through social media can have damaging
effects on an individual’s mental health,
self-confidence, and self-esteem. Despite
these circumstances, people keep on
empowering each other, proving that
everybody is beautiful in their own way.

This study focuses on how social media can

result in body image issues or body
dysmorphia in teenagers.

Research Gap Numerous studies on the body image

concerns of teenagers have been conducted,
and have indicated these as an effect of
frequent social media consumption (Ryding
& Kuss, 2020; Lewallen & Behm-
Morawitz, 2016; Alsaidan et al., 2020;
Marengo et al., 2018). However, very little
is known about the aspects that can be
associated with the impact of social media
on Senior High School students' body
image, specifically on Angeles City Science
High School.

Statement of the Problem 1. How significant is the actual

relationship between social media
and the body image of ACSci-SHS
students?

2. Do female ACSci-SHS students

have higher levels of body image
dissatisfaction compared to male
ACSci-SHS students?

3. Which social media sites do each

student use that favor the
development of physical and mental
effects of BDD (Body Dismorphic
Disorder)?

Type of Quantitative Research Survey Research

Respondents/Participants of the Study The selected respondents of the study will

be the Senior High School students of
Angeles City Science High School who
frequently experience body image issues or
body dysmorphia. The sample size of the
study will be 30 participants; 15 male and
15 female participants.
