Incident

On 9th November 2021, Total power shutdown occurred due to tripping of both running Genset. CAT G-3412 and Perkins Gas Genset tripped on
Low frequency alarms. ESD-0 operated and utility breaker cut-off automatically.

Causes

*- Load variation or sudden load on Gensets

Actions Taken

*- Perkins Diesel Genset was immediately started and put on load. Power restored within 06 minutes.
*- Perkins Gas Genset started and put on load in synchronization with Perkins Diesel Genset.
*- CAT G-3412 Genset also started and put on load. No frequency variations observed at no-load.
*- Visual inspection of cables, harnesses and actuators was carried out during running.

Suggestions

*- Perkins Gas Genset Ignition module, Harness, Hall effect and its harness shall be replaced tomorrow.

*- Perkins Gas Genset routine service shall also be carried out tomorrow.

*- As most of the tripping are occurring at night/evening, Mechanical team may please be advised to check air/fuel ration to the Engines.

*- M/S ASEA TTP visit shall also be arranged for inspection/rectification of the problem

Associated plant shutdown details

Production loss to be calculated in the Morning

N-Unit Gas Compressor for 16 minutes
