will be the lesson for today?
2. Can a computer operate without a system unit?

D. Discussion:

Lesson: System Unit

 A system unit is the part of a computer that houses the primary devices that
perform operations and produce results for complex calculations. It includes the
motherboard, CPU, RAM and other components, as well as the case in which
these devices are housed. This unit performs the majority of the functions that a
computer is required to do.
 A system unit is also known as a chassis or a tower in layman's terms.
 A system unit comes in a variety of shapes and sizes.

Main Components of a System

Unit

Motherboard
Also called as the system board. The main circuit board of a computer. It
contains all the circuits and components that run the computer. Many electronic
components attach to motherboard and others are built into it.

CPU (Central Processing Unit)

Also known as processor. The processor is the main “brain or heart” of a
computer system. It performs all of the instructions and calculations that are needed
and manages the flow of information through a computer.
RAM (Random Access Memory)
This is the short-term data storage which holds all the programs and data the
processor is using at a given time. Which it uses to handle all active tasks and apps.
None of your programs, files, games, or streams would work without RAM.

Power Supply Unit (PSU)

Power supply is a hardware component of a computer. Despite the name, Power
Supply Units (PSU) do not supply systems with power - instead
they convert it. Specifically, a power supply converts the alternating high voltage current
(AC) into direct current (DC). The power supply converts a 110-115 or 220-230
volt AC (alternating current) into a steady low-voltage DC (direct current) usable by the
computer and rated by the number of watts it generates.
The PSU has several cables which are designed to fit motherboards, storage
devices, graphics cards, and case fans; the different cables deliver electricity to different
parts of the computer inside the case.

Video Card
A video card is a PC component that connects to a computer motherboard, also
known as a video controller, display adapter, video board, graphics card, or video
adapter. It is an expansion card, controls and calculates an image's appearance on the
screen and used to improve the picture quality to show on display.

Hard Disk Drive

Storage refers to long-term keeping of data on non-volatile devices—devices
that can keep their data even when power is turned off.
A hard disk drive (sometimes abbreviated as a hard drive, HD, or HDD) is the
hardware component that stores all of your digital content. Your documents, pictures,
music, videos, programs, application preferences, and operating system represent
digital content stored on a hard drive.

E. Application:
The teacher will randomly pick students to identify the components of a system
unit and give their corresponding functions.
After that, the teacher will now ask the students for questions and clarification regarding
the discussion.

IV. Assessment of Learning

The teacher will tell the students to go to google classroom and click the
link then answer the following questions. A 10 item questionnaire is made.
