CHAPTER 1

INTRODUCTION

Fruits and vegetables are universally promoted as healthy. According to the

World Health Organization, Food & Agriculture of the United Nation, reports recommend

adults to consume at least five servings of fruits and vegetables per day excluding

starchy vegetables. Fruits and vegetables are a board collection of plant foods with a

wide range of energy and nutrient content. Based on the survey of NHANES 2013-2016

Analysis, majority of the results are in favor of 100% fresh fruit and vegetable juice

drink. Replacing 100% fruit and vegetable juice with whole fruits and vegetables

equivalents did not affect nutrient intake. The result shows that 100% fruit and

vegetable juice intake was associated with better diet quality and higher nutrient intake.

Get Juiced! is perfect for those people who don’t have time to eat whole fruits or to

those people who do not enjoy eating the whole fruits and vegetables.

this time of pandemic, and help fuel healthy lifestyles to everyone. According to the

Mayo Clinic, drinking freshly produced juices allows your body to absorb nutrients

effectively, as well as allowing your digestive system a break from fiber digestion.

Juicing is said to help you lose weight, reduce the chances of getting a cancer, enhance

your immune system, and remove toxins from your body. Fresh juice can offer you a

boost of energy and help you think more clearly.

the vibrant colors of beverages. Adding to its creative mood of labeling that can make

the act of drinking from these containers playful and interactive. It features an image of

a fruit, which is only rendered in a way so that it looks like it’s being consumed as the

contents of a drink are sipped through the straw, and the juice cup is completely sealed

to maintain the safety of the customer’s health. Furthermore, the straw is made by an

eco-friendly manufacturer with a tiny note that says “Please throw me Properly”.
Through this creative packaging, it could also help the community to educate them and

become responsible for their own garbage.

According to Ivankovic et al. (2017), packaging is an integral part of production,

storage, distribution, preservation, and other unit operations. Food packaging and

agriculture are two of the most common uses for biodegradable polymers. Protection

(protect the food from undesirable physical, chemical and biological changes),

Containment (enabling of storage, transport and distribution throughout the supply

chain), and Communication (required information (labeling), marketing the product) are

all functions that packaging serves in the food sector. Bioplastics have recently been

employed as an alternative to traditional plastics in a variety of applications. Bioplastic is

a bio-based plastic or a plastic with a biodegradable feature. Bio-based is described as

“generated from biomass” in European standard EN 1675. (Van den Oever et al., 2017)

This provide critical information on biopolymers as their role in packaging materials,

which is an important innovation that can help reduce the environmental impact of

plastic pollution while also providing a healthy and secure packaging for food and

beverages. Our product operates through social media accounts. And we are also

purchasing this product in our local stores and markets (street foods); we also have

delivery service to those customers who don’t have time to go outside.

Our product aims to promote healthy lifestyle in the locality by offering an

affordable healthy fresh-squeezed fruit & vegetable drinks. Furthermore, it is

guaranteed that there are non-chemicals added because our ingredients for making a

And also offering a sugar-free fresh juice drink that would probably love by the market.

significant impact on the product’s marketability.
