UK that serves 2.8m households. The company is implementing the SAP solution for Work Force
Management system in order to reactive & plan Network Operations and Connections, replace current
unsupported legacy mainframe Work Management /Customer Contact Systems
and deliver improved customer service and sustained frontier operational performance. This
implementation involves migration of legacy master data to the SAP. The primary challenge in the
data migration is mapping the legacy data to the SAP format and identifying the gaps and negotiating
the same with the client. The data migration solution is implemented through IBM WebSphere
DataStage Version 8. The Source system data are hosted in Oracle Database. The Legacy data is

Title : Verizon DataMasking

Client : Verizon..

Organization : IBM India Pvt. Ltd, Bangalore

Description :

The purpose of Data Masking project is to allow production data to be used in application testing
without compromising the privacy of the individuals whose personal information is contained in the
records. IBM Websphere DataStage MVS and EE edition tool is used extensively for this project. This
project will augment the DataStage tools in the following ways:
The data masking project as the name suggests involves masking the original data with the dummy
data so as to hide the original sensitive data from being viewed by people who are not responsible for
the data and at the same time the integrity of the data has to be maintained. The sensitive information
could be names, telephone numbers, SSNs, credit card numbers, Address, IP Number etc. There are
needs for data to be shared between teams, departments or companies, however the real data could
violate the privacy of the record if shared, hence the need to mask the sensitive information. To
accomplish the data masking process IBM Websphere Datastage Tool which is a IBM’s product is
being used extensively. IBM Websphere Datastage has the capabilty to transform data on most of the
operating systems and most of the databases and file formats. The data has been masked for data on
Mainframe, Windows and Unix systems with databases like DB2, Oracle, Sybase, SQL Server, and
with file formats of QSAM, VSAM ( both are file formats on Mainframes) and sequential file.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct data masking for a selected application. This involves transforming the current
regression test data to masked data
• Develop data masking requirements, reusable transform software and associated process
documents..
• Creating project-status report for customer as well as department
• Develop, review and testing of Datastage jobs for masking solution.
• Extensively used processing stages like Transformer, Join, Lookup and Funnel in developing
jobs
• Installing the varied databases and datastage in development environment.
• Analysis of Data Masking algorithms
• Designing of reusable Datastage components.
• Coding and Testing of the Datastage Jobs.
