ASSIGNMENT NO. 2

1. Choose two rules from Jacinto’s Kartilya ng Katipunan and explain each in your
own words what he wants to convey to the Katipuneros.

 “Huwag mong sayangin ang panahun: ang yamang nawala’y

mangyayaring magbalik; ngunit panahung nagdaan na’y di na muli pang
magdadaan.”

-It means that we have to use our time wisely otherwise we might end up having
regretting for the things we weren’t able to do. In other words we must
understand the importance of time

 “Sa daang matinik ng kabuhayan, lalaki ay siyang patugot ng asawa’t mga

anak: kung ang umaakay ay tungo sa sama, ang pagtutunguhan ng
inaakay ay kasamaan din.”

-It means that we should serve as a role model to others because whatever they
saw in us will also be followed by the people who sees us. We must always show
righteousness in front of everyone so that they would reciprocate that same thing
to the others surrounding them.

2. Do you think Jacinto’s Kartilya ng Katipunan and the rules in it are still relevant in
today’s society? Explain.

 -In my personal opinion the rules of Kartilya ng katipunan which was

written by Emilio Jacinto is still relevant to our current and modern society.
Almost all of the rules included in the kartilya ng katipunan are still
applicable for example, “Huwag mong sayangin ang panahun: ang
yamang nawala’y mangyayaring magbalik; ngunit panahung nagdaan na’y
di na muli pang magdadaan.” which meant that we shouldn’t waste
valuable time.
