3D BIM Quantity Takeoff Vico Office Suite
3D BIM for Visualization
and Reporting
Quantities and locations are the linchpins to the Vico Office Suite. An accurate quantity takeoff is
the start to both a precise schedule and a precise estimate. So it is important to start with a 3D BIM for Clash
comprehensive quantity takeoff that analyzes each piece of BIM geometry and that is exactly and Detection
what you get with Vico Takeoff Manager.
3D BIM for Layout
We have written extensively about the mathematics which make our calculations so unique and 3D BIM for Quantity
we invite you to learn more with the resources across our website. But perhaps the one unique Takeoff
feature of Vico Office that we haven’t explained is how we straddle both the 2D and 5D
processes. Did you know that you can start work in Vico Office even if you don’t have a model? 4D BIM for Scheduling
Users can manually add takeoff items to the Vico Takeoff Manager spreadsheet (we call it a 5D BIM for Estimating
spreadsheet because we designed it to look just like Excel). These manual items may or may Other Vico Products
not ever have a BIM model to reference, but they help account for every detail on your
construction projects. We also have another interesting feature that helps capture the Estimator’s Vico Office FAQs
experience and project knowledge. We call it the Formula Editor. It shows the Estimator how the
system established the quantity count for the item (the same formula you would see in Excel), Vico Office Training
and invites the Estimator to review it and modify it if necessary. The Estimating Team’s
experience is brought to bear on each project so no data ever slips through the cracks.
With Vico Office, there is an interesting cooperation between the Estimating Team and the
Scheduling Team because of the tight integration between the 5D cost planning activities and the
4D scheduling activities. Schedulers apply another lens to examine quantities: locations. How will
the crews work through the quantities at each designated location? And understanding how crews
“consume” materials as they work through the jobsite helps us further refine the quantities with
waste factors.
Learn more about Vico’s quantity takeoff solution and judge for yourself whether our approach is
a comprehensive match for your firm. Just as Vico Office Client is a mandatory module for each
user, Takeoff Manager is mandatory for Estimating and Scheduling users. We have it called
here as its own category (in addition to its rightful place in both 4D Scheduling and 5D Estimating
categories) because many firms are interested in the best takeoff solution available to feed their
legacy systems. We have made these legacy systems relevant with the Excel Import tool in the
Vico Office Client.
