LENGHA
A LENGHA (PRONOUNCED LENG-AH) IS TYPICALLY A 3-PIECE OUTFIT
COMPOSED OF:

   - SKIRT (LENGHA)
   - CROPPED BLOUSE (CHOLI)
   - SCARF (DUPATTA)

THE LENGHA HAS A SIMILAR LOOK TO A SARI BECAUSE OF THE

DRAPED FABRIC BUT IS MUCH EASIER TO WEAR. (AND DANCE IN!)

EMBELLISHED AND ELEGANT, LENGHAS ARE DELIGHTFULLY

UNIVERSAL. THEY CAN BE WORN AT WEDDINGS, ENGAGEMENTS,
SANGEETS, OR RECEPTIONS. WHETHER YOU'RE THE BRIDE OR A
GUEST — A LENGHA WILL MAKE ANY MOM PROUD. SOME OF OUR
FAVORITE LENGHAS INCLUDE THE AASMAN, THE NAKHRA, AND
THE CHAMAK.
ANARKALI
AN ANARKALI (PRONOUNCED UH-NAAR-KUH-LEE) IS A
COMBINATION OF:

   - LONG FLOWING TOP (KURTA)

   - LEGGINGS OR PANTS (CHURIDAAR)
   - SCARF (DUPATTA)

BECAUSE THEY’RE SO VERSATILE AND LOW-MAINTENANCE, AN

ANARKALI IS A GOOD CHOICE NO MATTER THE WEATHER OR
OCCASION.

LEGEND HAS IT THAT ANARKALI SUITS ORIGINATED BACK IN

THE MUGHAL ERA. THESE SUITS ARE NAMED AFTER ANARKALI
(WHICH MEANS POMEGRANATE BLOSSOM), A FAMOUS
COURTESAN OF THE GREAT EMPEROR AKBAR’S COURT. CHECK
OUT SOME OF OUR BESTSELLERS: THE JALEBI, THE PYAR, AND
THE DUNIYA.

PATTU VESHTI
Men in Tamil Nadu too prefer wearing North
Indian dresses for special occasions. They wear
kurta pyjamas, sherwani, indowestern traditional
outfits, jodhpuri suits, and many more. Of late
men too have started a keen interest in
experimenting with different types of dresses. They
too are conscious about their look and style. This
can be evident from the rise in the number of men
adorning north Indian outfits on several occasions.
Now they too can boast about the variety and types
of clothing they have apart from dhoti and shirts.
MEKHELA CHADOR
Assam is a beautiful place which happens to be one of
the Seven Sisters in the North East. Assam is not just a
budding state, but also a place with deep cultural roots
and the people here take pride in the refinement of
their cultural roots. This state portrays its beauty not
only in its serenity and lush green forests but also in
the way the people dress traditionally. Tradition is the
caravan of the heritage passed on to us by our
forefathers, and these people here have very elegantly
managed to carry forward the flame that was passed to
them rightly. Here, let's have a look at the beautiful
and exquisite pieces of clothing that one can find only
in Assam.
MUNDU
A mundu usually has a line of comparatively thicker cloth woven into it
near the border called the  kara. The kara can be coloured and comes in
various sizes. There is also double coloured and ornamental  kara (a strip
of colour at the end of the mundu). For more ceremonial occasions (like
weddings), a mundu has a golden embroidery known as kasavu. The
wearer highlights the 'kara' by carefully folding the end of the mundu.
The kara generally appears on the right-hand side of the person, though
styles with the kara on the left side are prevalent. Unspoken rules of
etiquette govern the way the mundu is worn. Men will often fold the
garment in half to resemble a short skirt when working, cycling, etc., but it
is considered disrespectful to speak to women or one's social superiors with
the mundu folded up this way, revealing the legs from the knee down.
When faced with such a social situation, the fold of the mundu is loosened
with an imperceptible flick and it flutters down to cover the legs
completely. Sometimes a belt will be used; a popular Velcro belt that comes
in either green or black has yellow pockets to keep valuables and hold the
mundu (or lungi) secure.
