CHAPTER III

METHODOLOGY

This chapter discusses the process in gathering data of the researcher and how can the

questions in the study can answer. This chapter includes the research design, research

instrument, data gathering procedure and analysis and interpretation of the data.

Research Design

The researcher used a descriptive research design in this study. Descriptive Research

focuses on describing the nature of a demographic segment, without focusing on “why” a certain

phenomenon occurs. In other words, it “describes” the subject of the research, without covering

“why” it happens. using questionnaire, survey, test, and having a statistical analysis on the data

that were gathered. According on Charles Stangor, descriptive design intends to provide a

snapshot of the current state of affairs. The design’s advantage is that it provides relatively

complete picture of what is occurring at a given time. Moreover, quantitative research is also

used in this study. Bases on SIS Internation Research, Quantitative research is a structured way

of collecting and analyzing data obtained from different sources. Quantitative research involves

the use of computational, statistical, and mathematical tools to derive results. It is conclusive in
its purpose as it tries to quantify the problem and understand how prevalent it is by looking for

projectable results to a larger population. The researcher used a standardized survey

questionnaire to gather data which undergo for SPSS for statistical assessment.

Participants of the Study

The respondents of this study are all employees of Cooperative Development Authority-

Calamba Extension. This is the regional office for Region IV-A of the company. Since there are

only 30 employees for this branch all of them participated and answered the survey

instructions. It is designed for both interactive and non-interactive (batch) uses.

frequency distribution, weighted mean and SPSS.

Frequency distribution tells how frequencies are distributed over values. Frequency

distributions are mostly used for summarizing categorical variables. That's because metric

variables tend to have many distinct values while mean that is computed with extra weight

given to one or more elements of the sample.

The gathered data were statistically treated to address the specific objectives of the study. The

results obtained by the researches were tabulated, computed, and analyzed using statistical

formulas. For this study, the researcher used frequency distribution, weighted mean, and Chi-

Square test of independence.
