MANILA, Philippines - Umabot na sa buong mundo ang mataas na popularidad ni Pangulong

Rodrigo Duterte matapos na manguna sa online poll para sa “100 most influential people 2017”
ng TIME Magazine.

Nakakuha si Pangulong Duterte ng  5 porsyento ng botong “yes” sa online poll na nagsimula
noong Marso at nagtapos nitong Lunes.

Nabatid na naging tuluy-tuloy ang pagkalamang ng Pangulo sa nasabing poll kumpara sa mga
sikat na lider ng malalaking bansa.  

Natuwa naman ang Malacañang sa resulta ng botohan pero nilinaw na hindi naging basehan sa
mataas na popularidad ng Pangulo ang negatibong epekto ng kampanya nito sa “war on drugs.”

Naungusan ni Duterte ang mga kinikilala at ma-impluwensya na sina Bill Gates na


pinakamayamang tao sa buong mundo, Facebook founder Mark Zuckerburg, Pope Francis at
Canadian Prime Minister Trudeau na nakakuha ng tig-3 porsyento.

Kabilang naman mula sa 29 maimpluwensyang personalidad na nakakuha ng tig-2 porsyento


ay ang mga makapangyarihang sina US President Donald Trump, Russian President Vladimir
Putin at Chinese President Xi Jinping.

Nakakuha rin ng dalawang porsyento si Apple’s CEO Tim Cook, ang mga sikat na showbiz
personality na sina Oprah Winfrey, Lady Gaga, Beyonce, Emma Watson, Rihanna at sports
personality LeBron James at wrestler turned actor Dywane “The Rock” Johnson.

Kasama pa ang tinaguriang Women’s March co-chairs na sina Linda Sarsour, Tamika Mallory,
Carmen Perez at Bob Bland.

Nakakuha rin ng dalawang porsyento ang Chinese business magnate na si Jack Ma, ang
founder at executive chairman ng Alibaba Group na kilalang online business sa buong mundo.

Sina US Senator Bernie Sanders at Russian President Vladimir Putin ang nanalo ng reader poll
noong 2016 at 2015, ayon sa pagkakasunod.

After consistently leading the TIME 100 reader's poll, Philippine


President Rodrigo Duterte emerged as the winner.

In an online survey, TIME magazine asked its readers to choose


who should be included in its annual list.

Duterte received five percent of the total "yes" votes in the poll
that ended on Sunday.
Duterte was followed by Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau,
Pope Francis, Bill Gates, and Mark Zuckerberg, who each
received three percent of the total "yes" votes.

TIME listed 114 personalities it considered worthy to be on the


"TIME 100." After each vote readers are automatically shown the
percentage of votes for "yes" or "no."

Duterte has been drawing international attention over his


administration's war on drugs.

Presidential Spokesperson Ernesto Abella said Duterte is admired


by Filipinos and the international community because ohe is a
leader who acts for the common good.

"He has prioritized public interest first and foremost, especially the
needs and aspirations of the poor and common people," Abella
said in a statement reacting to the TIME online poll.

"With or without the distinction, the President continues to be a


hardworking government worker and faithful servant of the Filipino
people," he added.

The official TIME 100 Most Influential People, selected by its


editors will be announced on April 20.

MANILA, Philippines – Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte topped the


TIME 100 Reader Poll, the newsmagazine said Monday, April 17.

The TIME 100 Reader Poll is an online survey of who the magazine's
readers think should be included in the publication's annual TIME 100 list
of the world's most influential people.

TIME said Duterte received 5% of the total "yes" votes in the poll,


followed closely by Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Pope
Francis, Bill Gates, and Mark Zuckerberg (all at 3% of the "yes" votes).
In the online survey, readers were asked who they think should be part
of the prestigious list, by clicking "yes" or "no" in a gallery of 114 pre-
determined personalities, from politics to the arts. The poll ran from
March 24 to April 16.

The magazine said the official TIME 100 list – determined by the
publication's editors – will be out on April 20. – Rappler.com

“yes” votes since March until last Sunday night in Time Magazine’s 2017 poll for its
yearly Time 100 list.
The Time 100 is a yearly list of the most influential people worldwide in the fields of arts,
politics, business, and science and technology.
Next to Duterte are Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and the Vatican’s head of
state.
Billionaire and Microsoft founder Bill Gates and Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerburg both
got three percent “yes” votes.
President Duterte has become known in the international community for his anti-drug
war.
Presidential Spokesperson Ernesto Abella said the President’s efforts to prioritize public
interest and welfare made him famous in the international community.
Abella added that with or without the recognition, the President will remain true to his
promise to serve the country.
The result of the online poll will be announced on April 20 after Time editors have
selected the magazine’s final list of 100 most influential people.
In 2015, Russian President Vladimir Putin came first in the list of the Time 100 poll,
while US Senator Bernie Sanders got to the top the following year.

Rodrigo Duterte claimed the top spot in TIME magazine’s 100 most influential people poll for
2017.

The feisty Philippine president received 5 percent of “yes” votes in the online poll that started in
the last week of March and closed on Monday (Manila time). He was consistently leading the
survey.

Duterte, who launched the bloody war against illegal drugs since claiming the presidency in
July, got ahead of Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Pope Francis, richest man in the
world Bill Gates and Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg in the survey. The four all got 3
percent of "yes" votes.
US Sen. Bernie Sanders and Russian President Vladimir Putin won the reader poll in 2016 and
2015, respectively.

In December 2016, Duterte was among the Most Powerful People list of Forbes Magazine
where he landed in the 70th spot.

Despite local and international criticisms, Duterte still enjoys a “very good” satisfaction rating for
the first quarter of 2017 based on the latest Social Weather Stations survey.

The official list of 2017’s most influential personalities, chosen by TIME editors, will be revealed
on April 21.
