EVOLUTION OF MEDIA

Prehistoric age

-The Prehistoric Period runs


roughly from 2.5 million years
ago to 1,200 B.C., meaning when
there was human existence
before records chronicled
human activities. The Stone Age,
Bronze Age, and Iron Age are the
three archaeological eras.

ERA REPRESENTATION

Rock carving
-The term "petroglyphs" (derived from
the Greek words "petra" meaning stone
and "glyphein" meaning to carve) is used
in ancient art to refer to any image
carved into a rock surface by scouring,
scraping, engraving, chiseling, carving, or
any other means.

STONE TOOLS

-Hammerstones are among the oldest and


most basic stone tools. Hammerstones were
used by prehistoric people to break other
stones into sharp-edged flakes.
Hammerstones were also used to break apart
nuts, seeds, and bones, as well as to crush clay
into color.

CAVE

-Cave paintings are a kind of


parietal art (which also includes
petroglyphs or engravings) that
may be discovered on cave walls
and ceilings.
Industrial age

-The Industrial Age is a historical


period marked by changes in
economic and social organization
that began around 1760 in Great
Britain and later spread to other
countries. It is characterized by
the replacement of hand tools
with power-driven machines such
as the power loom and the steam
engine, as well as the
concentration of industry in large
establishments.

ERA REPRESENTATION

TYPEWRITER

-One of the most important innovations in


history is the typewriter. It allowed authors
to work faster, offices to be more productive,
and employees to work more conveniently.
Women were given employment, letters were
sent to friends, and individuals were given
computers.

PRINTING PRESS

-One of the most significant inventions of the


Age of Revolution was the industrial printing
press. It enabled the printing of thousands of
copies of various written texts and images in a
short amount of time and at a reasonable cost.
William Koenig, a German inventor, came to
London in the early 1800s and patented his
invention.

SPINNING
FRAME
-The spinning frame is a mechanical
spinning frame invented during the
Industrial Revolution for spinning
thread or yarn from wool or cotton
fibers. Richard Arkwright and John Kay
created it in the 18th century in the
United Kingdom.
ELECTRONIC AGE

-The information era, or digital age,


is another name for the electronic
age. It began in the 1970s and has
continued to this day. This is a
phase of transition from
conventional manufacturing to an
information-based economy.

ERA REPRESENTATION

TELEVISION
-Television is a technology for
delivering visual pictures and
sound to screens, which is
primarily used to broadcast
entertainment, informative, and
educational programming.

RADIO
-Talk shows, music stations, and general
news are all broadcast on radio. For news
and entertainment, FM and AM
transmissions are accessible 24 hours a day,
7 days a week. Radios are commonly used in
the home and at work, but automobiles
account for a large percentage of radio
airtime.

CASSETTE TAPE

 -Cassette tape is another name for this format. A


tape recorder, cassette deck, video camera, or VCR
uses a tiny container carrying a length of magnetic
tape that runs between two small reels for
recording or playback of audio or video, as well as
for data storage in certain small computer systems.
Audiocassette and videocassette are both terms that
can be used interchangeably.
NEW/DIGITAL AGES

-The Information Age (also


known as the Computer Age,
Digital Age, or New Media Age)
began in the mid-twentieth
century and was marked by a
rapid epochal change from
conventional industries created
by the Industrial Revolution to an
economy based mainly on
information technology.

ERA REPRESENTATION

FACEBOOK

-Facebook is a social networking website


where users may establish profiles,
publish information about themselves
such as photographs and quotations, and
comment to or link to material posted by
others.

SMART
-Smartphones allow users to seek up
information and do research, saving time
and money. Smartphones also assist
people in becoming socially engaged by
providing a variety of applications and
social media sites, such as Twitter and
Facebook.

INTERNET
-People may use the internet to
improve their quality of life. It gives
people access to things that were
previously unavailable. With over three
million users, the internet is quickly
becoming one of the most essential
communication instruments.
