R// The name of chapter number one is Baby Al

2. Who are the main characters of the story.? Make a short

description about them?
R// The main characters in the story are Ellen and her brother Al. Ellen
is older than Al. First, she was a lovely and happy daughter; but, after
the birth of her brother, she was an unhappy and jealous child. She
was also good at school and a beautiful girl with many suitors. As an
adult, I consider her a strong and hardworking woman, but a bit
ambitious.

Al was always loved by his parents; he was a happy boy with an easy
life. As an adult, he was a big and strong man, very handsome; But he
was also selfish, arrogant and had a drug problem.

3. How was Ellen’s relationship with his brother?

R// Not good, it was a difficult relationship. They were not close
brothers. When they were children, Ellen spent most of her time
playing by herself, her brother playing with their parents. Ellen

confessed that she hated her brother, since he was the2dodarling of

family. When they

grew up, they had different lives; Ellen a difficult one, but Al's life was
great. For a while they had good times, they were closer, Ellen took
care of Al. But that didn't take long, Ellen remembered why she hated
her brother and why they never had a nice relationship.

4. Was Ellen a happy person? yes/ no why? explain.

R// No, she was not a happy person. Especially since her brother was
born. That was because her parents spent more time with her brother
than with her. She felt that her parents did not love her as much as her
brother. Besides, as an adult, she had a hard life: with three children, a
husband who was unfaithful to her, a small house and very little
money. In addition, she worked as her brother’s housewife.

5. What happened after Ellen’s mother died?

R// Ellen was 10 years old when her mother died. After this terrible
incident, Ellen’s father was unhappy, he drank so much, he came home
with strange women; but he didn’t marring any of them. Besides, he
seldom played with Al.

6. What was AL’s main problem?

when he was a famous rock star. This affected him a lot, both
physically and mentally.

7. Make a summary of the story until chapter number three.

R// The book is about Ellen Shore. When she got six, Ellen had a
brother, Al. Since Al was born, her parents think that a son is more
important than a daughter and they weren’t interested in her
anymore. Ellen begins to hate her brother. Ellen was ten years old
when her mother died; since then, her father gets alcoholic. They grow
up, Ellen is a nurse, she has 3 kids but is not married. She lives in a
small apartment and she has very little money, she has a hard life. Al is
a famous rock star and he plays in a band, but he is a drug addict. He is
rich and he has a lot of cars and luxuries but he gives nothing to his
sister.
