WHAT’S NEW: THINK OF A THEME

“WRITE ABOUT WHAT’S AROUND YOU”

This theme is what I though about when it comes to creative writing. If we apply this idea to
writing, we will have an easier time when it comes to writing something. Writing something that
influences my mood is a tactic I use if I write essays, poems, stories, etc.

WHAT’S MORE:

PRE-ACTIVITY

1. I think creative writing is considered as an imaginative writing is because in creative writing, we

can write things to express our emotion in an imaginative way like a poem. Creative writing also
allows writers to express thoughts freely. Also, the writing original literary pieces is considered
as imaginative writing.
2. There is a lot of ways to write paragraph and short stories creatively, but the main tactic that I
use to write stories and paragraphs creatively is I write based on what I feel and observed.
Writings literary pieces based on what I feel makes the story or paragraphs that I’m writing
unique.
ACTIVITY 1

A. The Tortoise and the Hare is an imaginative type of writing because its main purpose is to
entertain the readers.
B. The story about Maria Makiling is a story about love and lost, its main purpose is to entertain
and share human experience making this reading material an imaginative piece of literature.
C. A sample Memorandum is writing which purpose is to address a problem and ways to fix it, and
Memorandum are technical types of writing.
D. Newspaper article/headlines are technical type of writing because they usually give and spread
information.
E. A diary is an imaginative type of writing because in writing a diary you usually have creative
freedom on how to make it.

WHAT’S NEW: WRITE YOUR REFLECTION

As I sat down on the bench of the park, I see people walking around and children
playing. I visit the park to find peace and relieve stress. It’s very nice to slow down every
once in a while, just admiring nature, watching the leaves fall down from the branch of the
tree, hear the chirps of birds, watch the fluffy white clouds pass by the endless blue sky,
and hear the gentle rustle of the leaves. It’s nice to occasionally visit the park and feel
the fresh breeze of air.

WHAT I CAN DO: WRITE A 3-PARAGRAPH ESSAY

In creative writing, we are encouraged to write literary piece. In learning to write

properly we will encounter this term called diction and imagery. What do exactly these
terms mean? Well, diction is simply defined as the author’s choice of words. Imagery is
simply defined as the language used by writers to creative images in the minds of readers.

In diction the style of speaking and writing is determined. The diction of the author
is usually the indicator wither the literary piece is a bad writing or a good one. There are
many factors that we should considered when it comes to our dictions or choice of words.
First, the words that we should choice is right and accurate. Second, words should be
accurate to the context especially when it comes to formal writing. And one of the most
important factors that we should consider is the diction that we should choose should be
easy to understand and we should avoid using fancy words.

Imagery is the language used by creative writers, poets, novelists, playwrights, and
other writers to create images in the minds of the reader. There are five types of imagery
in creative writing which is Visual, Auditory, Olfactory, Gustatory, and Tactile imagery.
Imagery is a very important part of literature; it usually makes the readers activate their
imaginations.

ADDITIONAL ACTIVITY: LONE SHADOW’S ADVENTURE

1.

SIGHT:

A few butterflies silently swoop down to rest on tall grasses that spread out as far as the eyes can see.
Above, a few fluffy white clouds float in an endless blue sky.

HEAR:

It’s quiet on the prairie.

Then he hears it… a rhythmic sound like his heartbeat, only louder.

TASTE:

The dust thicker, so thick he could taste it.

SMELL:

There’s a musty smell in the air above the grass.

TOUCH:

A gentle breeze drifts past Lone Shadow’s ears.

A few fluffy clouds.

WHAT’S NEW

ACTIVITY 1:

(1) STANZA OF MY FAVORITE SONGS

Living in this big blue world
With my head up in outer space
I know I'll be A-O, A-O-K
I know I'll be A-O, A-O-K
When I see trouble come my way
I be making lemonade
I know I'll be A-O, A-O-K
I know I'll be A-O, A-O-K (mmh-mh) (yeah)
Questions:

1. Why did you choose this stanza from your favorite song?
I choose this stanza because I found it very uplifting. It may not same so good but if you try to
analyze it, it will make a lot of sense and I also find it very meaning full.
2. What is the message of the song?
The first line of the songs says he’s on the planet but his brain, figuratively, is not. He’s got his
head in the clouds as some people would say. He’s not caring about what goes on in the world,
just how he treats it. The message of the songs is when the world throw problems at us, we
should make something good out of it.
3. How does the song relate to your life?
Even though I am still a student, I can still say that I have experience some troubles that life
throws at me. But these troubles are given to us in order to make us strong and we should
always see the bright side of things. We should always view some problems as just blessing in
disguise.
4. How did you know that a song is a poem?
A song and a poem are both composition of words and delivering them requires tones,
making both of them very similar. Songs are just poems with music mix into it.
5. In your own idea, what is a poem?
To me a poem is a composition of words that has rhythmical sounds into it. Figures of speech
a usually present into it like metaphors, similes, and iron. And lastly, it has the element of meter,
rhyme, and stanzaic structure.

WHAT’S MORE

ACTIVITY 2: DETERMINE THE ELEMENTS AND LANGUAGE DEVICE

(A) Elements
Sound – Parallel structure
Stanza – Dizain (10-line stanza)
Rhyme
Imagery
Sound pattern – Cacophony
Consonance
(B)
Anaphora – The word gone is repeated in the 1st-3rd stanza.
Onomatopoeia – when being true is not prohibited
and when being childish is promulgated
Synecdoche – To the friend I lost, you lost me too.
Hyperbole – gone are the days when all we
could think of is to laugh
ACTIVITY 3

1. What is the message of the poem?

The message of the poem is to remind us of all of the friends we have lost. We lost friends
because of maturity, and some of our interest out grows each other.
2. How can you relate from the message of the poem?
The message of the poem is very relatable for me because I have lost many friends already and
seeing us go to our own path in life is both sweet and bitter. I just smile whenever I remember
the memories of our bonds in the past, bond which cannot be broken and cannot be lost.
3. Why is it important to know the elements and language used in poetry?
It is important to know the elements and language of poetry because it would be easier for us
to convey meaning and themes of poets. While there are many poetic elements and devices,
many poets are selective in their usage of elements and devices. They often choose the tool that
achieves the effect they want to convey.

WHAT I HAVE LEARNED

I have learned that poetry is composed of many different elements like form,
imagery, rhyme, sound, line, and stanzas. These six elements are the most important
elements of poetry. These elements help us composed poems the right way. The lesson also
helps me remember the different literary devices used in poetry.

PERFORMANCE TASK 2

Two best friend named Carlos and Maya dreamed of becoming space explorers. They loved
space and everything about it. They were fascinated by how mysterious it is. They would
stay at the library after school reading book about planets and outer space.

On their way home, Carlos and Maya saw a display in the window of a toy

store. It was a spaceship. They went inside the store to see how much it cost.

They saw the price and it was too expensive. They reached into their pockets

and got whatever was left of their allowance. They tried to pool their money

together but it still wasn't enough.

They left the store sad and disappointed. Carlos suddenly realized that his

birthday was coming up. Maybe he could ask their parents to buy the space

ship as a gift for his birthday. They both started sprinting home. They were

excited to tell their parents about the spaceship.

When they got home, they ran straight to their mother who was setting up the

table for dinner. They wrapped their arms around their mom's leg. Their mom

was curious as to what they were excited about. So, Carlos told their mom

what he wanted for his birthday.

Place: Los Angeles

SYNOPSIS OF SCENES

Scene One: Nick's office

Scene Two: Peggy Peterson's Pancake House

Scene Three: The reception area of Dr. Prentiss's office

Scene Four: Mr. Johnson's apartment

Scene Five: Nick's office

SET DESCRIPTION

The sets can be simple, using only tables, chairs, and other basic furnishings. Whether
simple or more embellished, you'll want to keep these guidelines in mind:

Nick's office should exude an air of extravagant squalor. At a minimum it contains a

battered desk and chair.

Peggy's diner should look like it's one health code violation away from being shut down.
There's a counter with two or three stools in front of it.

Dr. Prentiss's office reception area has the neat, orderly look of a highly efficient torture
chamber. There's a receptionist's desk and chair for

Ruth and a couple of chairs for the non-existent patients. Mr. Johnson's apartment is
rather shabby. It has a well-used sofa and an armchair.
PERFORMANCE TASK 4

The pandemic that we are facing today is cause by a virus known as the
COVID-19, it is formerly known as NCOV-19. This virus originated from a city in
China called Wuhan. Reportedly, people got this virus by eating bats. This disease
is highly contagious and can spread easily form one person to another by body
fluids from an infected person. The disease has now spread all around the globe,
leading to a pandemic.

We all know that we have been affected by this pandemic. However, the
impact of this pandemic has not been the same for all of us. Some people lost their
jobs, some lost their loved ones, and some lost career changing opportunities. This
pandemic has been a rough, it’s nearly 3 years since this pandemic started and it
has affected our lives in severe ways. Not only that this pandemic has affect us
individually, but it has also affected our society. Economically the effect of this
pandemic has been devastating, many establishments have been forced to close at
the beginning of the pandemic. Fortunately, as time pass, we are starting to adapt
to this pandemic. We learned and found in ways to function again.

But this pandemic has strengthened us as a species. We have discovered

new way on how or alternative ways on how to perform certain daily task, like going
to school or work. Because of the pandemic we are introduced to modular class and
work from home which helps us save a lot of money. Even though this pandemic was
a very rough time, we still need to move on and look into a brighter future. This
pandemic is truly a rough time and just by simply surviving it is something to be
proud of.
