LANA GATTO SS 2022: THE ECO GLAM SUMMER BY LANA GATTO

Sustainability is the protagonist of the collection for the next hot season, focusing on natural
fibres and details with a strong green nature. There is room for fashion as well, with yarns
inspired by catwalks in terms of colours and particular details. The inspiration? Sweet foody

Eco-friendly by vocation, glam by nature: the Lana Gatto SS 2022 collection is a celebration of
the two cores that have long distinguished the brand, which has been able over the years to
develop products with both a strong sustainable component and a fashion appeal. The next
hot season does not betray this trait, as confirmed by a new product that enriches the ‘Classic’
line, the ‘sweet foody’ inspired fashion capsule and the Mix & Match proposal, which, offering
the possibility of mixing different yarns, is a palette of creativity for tricot lovers.

An eye to the earth and a gaze upon the world: My Earth, green in essence

What makes My Earth the flagship of the collection of classic products by Lana Gatto with a
green vocation is not only the type of yarn (100% recycled cotton), but also further details
whose guideline is respecting the habitat: from the label made of recycled paper and printed
with exclusively natural inks, to the recycled cardboard box that contains the balls of yarn –
everything speaks of nature.

Nature that My Earth celebrates by integrating a symbolic virtuous circle of rebirth. ‘Inside
the paper of the label,’ the company explained, ‘we inserted seeds of flowers, fruits, and
plants: just tear the paper into small pieces, soak it for 24 hours in water, and then put it in
the earth and water it to see them germinate. We thought of 23 types of seed, one for each
colour of the collection palette. A small concrete action that wants to be an encouragement to
take care of what is around us.’

But the eco-commitment of the brand headed by Tollegno 1900 does not stop there, as also
underlined by some already existing products that focus on exclusively natural fibres – ‘Fresh’
(100% linen), ‘Silky’ (100% silk), and ‘Sugar’ (100% sugar cane) – and by new products. An
example of this is ‘Smoothy’ from the Mix & Match collection.

Mix & Match: I create, therefore I am

Playing with the yarns by combining them according to our own creativity to give life to
customized outfits and accessories. With this goal, for SS 2022 Lana Gatto focuses on the Mix
& Match line which, part of the ‘Fashion’ collection, makes ‘sweet foody’ its inspiration.
Thinking about the colours, aromas, and flavours of international gourmet cuisine, the 3
different yarns take shape, which, differing in composition, count, and construction, but with
similar colours and prints, can be freely mixed and matched to create increasingly unique
customizations. So make way for ‘Macaron’ (100% flamed cotton), ‘Milkshake’ (75% cotton
and 25% viscose), and ‘Smoothy’, which, entirely natural in the fibres that compose it (50%
cotton, 40% Tencel, and 10% silk), very soft to the touch and cool to wear, reveals its
sustainable nature by using only viscose from FSC forests (Forest Stewardship Council –
international certification born in 1993 specific for the forestry sector and for products
derived from forests managed correctly and sustainably according to strict environmental,
social, and economic standards). The eco-friendly component is therefore the protagonist of
the summer collection even in its ‘Fashion’ side, as demonstrated by 2 of the 5 new products
of the line.

Fashion: sweetness on the skin

Sweet by name and by nature: Lana Gatto’s ‘Fashion’ collection, besides making ‘sweet foody’
its guideline, is also a sweet for the sensations of softness and delicacy on the skin. Divided
into 5 products – ‘Cookie’, ‘Cupcake’, ‘Candy’, ‘Brownie’, and ‘Muffin’ – with a summery colour
palette (from yellows to oranges, from pinks to wisteria, to earthy nuances) desaturated in the
pastel versions, it is a hymn to the hot season thanks to the use of only natural yarns
interspersed with eco glam details. Examples of this are ‘Brownie’, a ribbon specially designed
for making bags thanks to the 50% of viscose and the 50% of polyester recycled from plastic
collected in the oceans, and ‘Muffin’ (52% cotton and 48% recycled polyester), in which the
cotton thread meets that of sequins giving life to a soft and silky-looking yarn, ideal for
evening garments and accessories. Other yarns that lend themselves to the creation of outfits
for the night life are ‘Cookie’ (85% cotton, 11% polyamide, 4% metallic fibre), which, thanks
to the rhinestones inside it, is perfect for mesh stitching for shawls, soft jackets, and light
outerwear, and ‘Candy’. The 80% viscose and 20% metallized polyester chain yarn, soft, silky,
and light, is available in 100g skeins in which the solid colour base is printed only in some
parts, creating a charming play of colours. Finally, the print is also a distinctive trait of
‘Cupcake’ (44% cotton, 28% silk, 20% linen, and 8% viscose), a printed thread with a frisé
effect that will appeal to those who love the Chanel style and entirely natural yarns.
